  2. You Were Planned for God’s Pleasure = Worship You Were Formed for God’s Family = Fellowship

  3. Romans 8.29 (TLB) For from the very beginning God decided that those who came to Him – and He knew who would – should become like His Son.

  4. Ephesians 4.15 (MSG) God wants us to grow up…like Christ in everything. Colosians 1.15 (MSG) We look at the Son and see God’s original purpose in everything.

  5. You were created to become like Jesus Christ - DISCIPLESHIP

  6. Romans 8.28-29 In all things God works for the good for those who love Him, who have been called according to His purposes. For from the very beginning God decided that those who came to Him – and He knew who would – should become like His Son.

  7. How Does God Help Us Become Like Jesus? • Troubles • Temptations • Trespasses

  8. God Uses Troubles to teach us to TRUST … we know that trouble produces patience, and patience produces character, and character produces hope. Romans 5:3-4 They came to a garden called Gethsemane and Jesus said to His disciples, ‘Sit here while I pray’. ‘The worry in My heart is so great that it almost crushes Me.’ ‘Father, everything is possible for You. Please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet, I want Your will, not Mine!’ Mark 14:32-36

  9. Things to help through Troubles Keep a Spiritual Journal Remember the Reward – Look up 2 Corinthians 4.17

  10. God Uses Temptations to teach to OBEY Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the desert to be tempted by the devil. Matthew 4.1 No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.1 Corinthians 10.13

  11. Things to help through Temptations Focus on Good Thoughts - Memorize Philippians 4.8 Have a Spiritual Partner – Look up Ecclesiastes 4.9-10

God Uses Trespasses to teach to FORGIVE The people passing by shook their heads and hurled insults at Jesus…and the elders made fun of Him…Even the bandits who had been crucified with Him insulted him in the same way. Jesus said, ‘Father, forgive these people, because they don’t know what they are doing’.Matthew 27.39-44 They called Him every name in the book and He said nothing back. He suffered in silence, intent to let God set things right. 1 Peter 2.23

  13. Things to help through Trespasses Remember, God has forgiven me Ephesians 4.32 Remember, God is in Control Study Joseph’s Life Genesis 37-50 Romans 12.17-19

  14. The third purpose in life is you were created to become like Jesus Christ

  15. Remember the Promise We go through exactly what Christ goes through. If we go through the hard times with him, then we’re certainly going to go through the good times with him! Romans 8.17 (MSG)
