Construction of Temporary Bridge Over Existing Piers for Improved Traffic Flow

Plans are underway for the construction of temporary bridge pilings adjacent to each of the four piers of the existing bridge in the lake. Crews will build a new bridge on these temporary piers. Once completed, the existing bridge will be demolished, and the new bridge will be slid onto the existing piers. Recent examinations show the existing piers are well-preserved and in good condition, allowing for significant cost savings by reusing them.

  2. Plans call for the construction of temporary bridge pilings erected adjacent to each of the existing bridge’s four piers in the lake.

  3. Crews would then construct a new bridge on top of the temporary piers. Once that work is finished, the existing bridge would be demolished and the new bridge would be slid laterally onto the existing piers.

  4. The existing bridge piers have undergone extensive examination in recent months. It has been determined they remain well preserved by the lake water and are in good condition. Use of the existing piers will provide a cost savings.
