Important Dates and Deadlines (front cover) 1/13– Spring semester classes begins 1/19 - Last day to add without permission code 1/26- Last day to qualify for refund for courses dropped 1/26 – Last day to drop with no notation on record 1/26- Last day to add or register (permission code needed) 2/26 - Last day to change grading status (P/NP) 2/28 – Last day to apply for May graduation 3/15 - Last date to drop with a W grade 5/19– Spring semester ends

How will college be different than high school? • You select, register, and drop yourself from classes • You seek help when needed • Your poor attendance will result in a bad grade or being dropped from the class • You are responsible for missed class work • You must plan on much more study time outside the classroom • You are financially responsible for tuition, books and assorted fees

  7. What will my teachers expect of me? • Come to class • Be on time • Be an active learner • Be prepared • Read the syllabus • Turn off your electronic devices • Keep up with your assignments • Go to faculty office hours • Meet assignment deadlines

  8. Attendance Policy • Attend all sessions of each class. • Make up missed coursework. • Instructor may drop you for excessive absences.

  12. What if I start to have difficulty in a class? • Meet with the instructor • See a counselor • Get a tutor • Form a study group • Go to the Writing Center or Math Lab • Drop before the deadline – but keep full-time status

  13. When should I see a Palomar College counselor? • At least once per semester • When unsure of your academic goals or what courses to take to achieve those goals • When experiencing personal or academic challenges

  23. Course Description Psychology 100 A general introduction to the principles of human and animal behavior. Topics covered include history of psychology, research thinking, intelligence, lifespan development, gender and human sexuality, motivation and emotion, health psychology, personality and other related topics.   24. Full-Time/Part-Time Full-Time 12 + units During Fall/Spring semesters Part-Time 11units or less* *only allowed for special circumstances or during Summer sessions. *A “LESS THAN 12 UNIT FORM” must be completed for students completing the program.

  25. Crashing a Class If a class is closed and the wait list is not available, you may want to try crashing a class. To crash a class, attend the first meeting of the course. Depending on the number of students registered for the class, the instructor may take in additional students by providing them with permission numbers. Use the permission number to add the class in student eServices.
