What are invasive species? • Invasive species are plants or animals that are aggressive against native species. They usually adapt to any environment, no matter the conditions.
What are some examples of invasive species? • The worst invasive plant in all of Maryland is the chestnut blight, as pictured below. • Crazy Ants are well-known for their sharp, jerking motions. • Kudzu is a plant that focuses on spreading, rather than defense.
What are some characteristics? • Invasive species have highly successful seed germination. • They adapt to any environment. • They out-compete native species.
What can I do about it? • You can volunteer for groups eradicating invasive species, such as The National Wildlife Refuge System. • SPREAD THE KNOWLEDGE. Teaching others about invasive species is as good as eradicating them.
