Rom. 12:2, “be not conformed to this world.” Many members of the church absorb the spirit of the world. “What’s wrong with that?”

It says much about us. Reflects our character, our attitude. Wear immodest clothing indicates weakness of character.

La mujer debe ser atractiva… pero según Dios y no según el mundo. • II. 1 TIM. 2:9, 10, “That they adorn themselves”, make attractive, make beautiful. The woman should be attractive… but according to God and not according to the world.

The woman who professes godliness is not extravagant.

NUDITY, shameful from Genesis to Revela-tion. “Lack of sufficient clothing”; Jn. 21:7, Peter “was stripped for work”, Lit., he was naked).

To avoid nudity, the leg should be covered from the hip to the knee.

No debe ser medio-desnudado para exhibición pública. • A forgotten fact: the body of the woman belongs to her husband, 1 Cor. 7:4. It should not be semi-denuded for public exhibition.

Ropa Decorosa – Modest Clothing • Ejemplos: Traje de baño, shorts, minifalda, ropa transparente, falda o vestido demasiado cortos aun cuando la mujer está parada y muy vergonzosos cuando sentada. • Examples: Swim suit, shorts, miniskirt, transparent clothing, skirt or dress too short even when woman is standing and very shameful when seated.

Ropa Decorosa – Modest Clothing • Hay vestidos, blusas y suéteres que no sólo señalan los senos sino también descubren o exponen partes de ellos. ¡No hay pudor! • There are dresses, blouses and sweaters that not only emphasize the breasts, but also uncover and expose parts of them. There is no shame!

Muchas mujeres, aun hermanas, no toman en cuenta que el cuerpo de la mujer es diferente. • Very offensive in this respect are tight pants. Many women, even sisters, do not take into account that the body of the woman is different.

God wants the body covered, not exhibited as naked.

MATTHEW 5:28, Men can lust after the most discreet woman, but the Christian woman will do everything possible to prevent a man from lusting after her.

Si el hombre peca, ella no será responsable, no llevará la culpa por ello. • The faithful (modest) woman will not wear provocative clothing. If a man sins, she will not be responsible, she will not be guilty of causing it.

Ropa Decorosa – Modest Clothing • Pero la mujer que vista ropa indecente comparte la culpa si algún hombre la mira para codiciarla. 2 Sam. 11:2 ¿Betsabé no compartió la culpa del pecado de David, bañando a plena vista del rey? • But the woman that wears indecent clothing shares the guilt if some man looks on her to lust after her. 2 Sam. 11:2, Didn’t Bathsheba share the guilt of David’s sin? He could see her bathing.

  37. Ropa Decorosa – Modest Clothing • Mat. 18:6, 7. No causar tropiezos. Ropa tentadora produce deseos carnales (lascivia) en hombres; tal mujer pone tropiezo delante del hombre. • Matt. 18:6, 7. Don’t cause stumbling. Tempting clothing produces carnal desires (lasciviousness) in men; such women cause men to stumble (sin).

  38. Ropa Decorosa – Modest Clothing • Mujeres dicen, “Nadie me hace caso”. Diversión principal de muchos hombres: estar parados en el mall para ver con mirada avidez y codiciosa a las mujeres con ropa deshonesta. • Women say: “No one notices me.” Principal diversion of many men: stand in mall ogling with avid and lustful gaze women in indecent attire.

MODESTIA. “Denota recto juicio de la mente (ver prudente, sobrio)… aquel control interno habitual del yo, con su refrenamiento constante de todas las pasiones y deseos.” (Vine). • V. SOBRIETY. “Denotes soundness of mind (prudent)… that habitual inner self-government with its constant rein on all the passions and desires which would hinder temptation arising.”

  40. Ropa Decorosa – Modest Clothing • Es cualidad del carácter y del corazón que se refleja en la conducta, en el habla y también en el modo de vestirse. La cristiana refleja modestia en todo. • It is a quality of character and of the heart that is reflected in conduct, in speechand also in the way one dresses. The Christian woman reflects modesty in everything.

  41. Ropa Decorosa – Modest Clothing • VI. EL PANTALON EN LA MUJER. Algunos citan Deut. 22:5 para probar que no conviene llevar ropa del sexo opuesto. • VI. THE WOMAN WEARING PANTS. Some refer to Deut. 22:5 to prove that it is not right to wear clothing of the opposite sex.

  42. Ropa Decorosa – Modest Clothing • Dios siempre ha insistido en que se haga distinción entre los sexos. El hombre cría barba, la mujer no. Hay diferencia en la voz, la piel, los senos, las caderas. 1 Cor. 11:14, el cabello. • God has always insisted on a distinction between the sexes. Men grow a beard, women don’t. There’s a difference in their voice, skin, breasts, hips. 1 Cor. 11:14, hair.

Dt. 22:5 no dice “pan-talón para el hombre, vestido para la mujer”. • Gen. 3:21, God clothed Adam with tunic of skins, not pants of skin. Dt. 22:5 does not say “pants for men, dress for women.”

  44. Ropa Decorosa – Modest Clothing • Tanto hombres como mujeres usaban túnicas, pero había diferencia entre la túnica de mujer y la túnica de hombre. • Both men and women wore tunics, but there was a difference between the tunic of the man and the tunic of the woman.

Ropa Decorosa – Modest Clothing • Hay hermanos fieles que creen que el pantalón no es para la mujer, pero no se condena si es pantalón flojo, no muy ajustado al cuerpo, y/o que se cubran las caderas con blusa larga. • There are faithful brethren who believe that pants are not for women, but pants are not wrong if they are loose, not tight, and/or if hips are covered by a long blouse.

  47. Ropa Decorosa – Modest Clothing • Hay pantsuits que son enteramente femeninos. Ningún hombre los llevaría. Tales prendas son decentes, decorosas; no son nada reveladoras, tentadoras, seductoras. • There are pantsuits that are entirely feminine. No man would wear them. Such garments are decent, modest; they are not revealing, tempting, seductive garments.

  48. Ropa Decorosa – Modest Clothing • El vestido no es apropiado para ciertos deportes, trabajos. Recuerde Ex. 28:42, “les harás calzoncillos (pantalones)… para cubrir su desnudez”. También necesario para la mujer. • The dress is not appropriate for certain sports, work. Remember Ex. 28:42, “you shall make them trousers… to cover their nakedness.” Also necessary for the woman.

Varón en pantalón muy ajustado es indecente, mayormente cuando sentado. • MEN’S PANTS. Women can lust after men. Many homosexuals. Man wearing tight pants is indecent, especially when seated.

Ropa Decorosa – Modest Clothing • Conclusión: Palabras claves: ropa decorosa… pudor (sentido de vergüenza)… modestia… Son cualidades de CARÁCTER de la mujer cristiana. • Conclusion: Key words: modest clothing… shamefastness (sense of shame)… sobriety… These are qualities of CHARACTER of the Christian woman.
