Departmental Response Plans Situation • Departmental Response Plans are needed so that staff know what is expected and how to respond when emergencies arise. • All Enterprise Emergency Plans reference Departmental Plans Background • Campus Emergency Management is requesting Building Emergency Action Plans (BEAP) for campus and there is a lot of confusion. Assessment • UKHC is moving and changing quickly. Paperwork (policies/plans) haven’t kept up • There are very few departmental response plans that meet the current needs Recommendation • Develop template and have departments complete

Departmental Response Plans • Who - Every Clinic, Department, Unit • What - Complete Response Plan Template • Why– • Each clinic, department/unit needs to know how to respond in greater detail than what is in our enterprise emergency response plans. • All enterprise plans reference departmental response plans and we have very few if any.

  5. Departmental Response Plans Tools to help you: • Template • Within the template there are questions or suggestions to help guide you down the path • Completed plan from OEQS • Sharon Berry, Sumati Kapoor, Susan Durachta and Dean Hanlon

Departmental Response Plans Tips for Completing the Template • If you have completed a BEAP, you don’t have to complete a departmental response plan but send us the BEAP • Don’t stress over it (Doesn’t mean don’t complete) • Give it your best effort • Nursing and larger departments such as Radiology may want to have one plan that outlines each Pavilion or area’s response • We are open to suggestions • If you get stuck, call or email

Departmental Response Plans • Whereto send the document- • Hospital Departments send to Hospital Safety via email (preferred) seberr0@uky.edu or hard copy in mail to Sharon Berry, Rm H387 • Ambulatory Care send to Sharon Neal via email (preferred) Sgneal00@uky.eduor hard copy to Sharon Neal , Ky Clinic Administration • When– By Friday, April 4th • Next Steps – Plans will be reviewed, revised and approved. Goal is to have them all completed by June 30. • This presentation, template and completed plan will be made available
