  1. IMPLEMENTED • The LBA SSC recommends that the ORNL DAAC post the LBA data policy with all LBA data sets for a period of 5 years following archival of the data sets.

  2. Report by Campos/Horta • The LBA SSC recommends that the LBA DIS meta-data be searchable by Google and similar internet search engines.

  3. IMPLEMENTED • The LBA SSC recommends that the LBA publication list clearly separate publications into at least three categories to include • peer-reviewed publications in professional journals and similar venues • theses and dissertations, • other publications including semi-popular literature such as newsletters.

  4. Report by Flávio Luizão • The LBA SSC recommends that the LBA Central Office and Training and Education committee follow up on the careers of the LBA students that have completed their training.

  5. Report by Flávio Luizão • The LBA SSC recommends that scientists from LBA and PP-Bio work together to co-locate their research and to maximize the synergism between these projects. Antônio Nobre and Regina Luizão will represent the LBA SSC for interactions with PP-Bio and should report the results of these interactions at the next SSC meeting.

  6. Report by Antônio Manzi • The LBA SSC recommends that the LBA Central Office prepare a work plan and budget distributed to SSC members prior to each SSC meeting that relates how Central Office activities supports active LBA research projects.

  7. Report by Michael Keller • The LBA SSC recommends that Michael Keller, John Gash, and Pedro Silva Dias serve as the chief editors of the LBA IGBP volume. This group should select section editors for the volume and together with the section editors should assign chapters to authors prior to the next SSC meeting.

  8. Report by Diógenes Alves • The LBA SSC recommends that an editorial committee led by Reynaldo Victoria, Regina Luizão, and Diógenes Alves coordinate the production of the LBA Series of education and outreach materials with EDUSP.

  9. Report by Batistella/Luizão • The LBA SSC recommends that Mateus Batistella and Flávio Luizão serve as the focal point for LBA for discussions of the PIME activity of MCT.

  10. IMPLEMENTED • The LBA SSC recommends that the project “Sustainable Management of Water and Human Interactions in Andean Amazon River Basins (SUMAAR)” project led by Remigio Galarraga-Sánchez be considered an associated project of LBA. • The LBA SSC recommends that the project “How Resilient is the Hydrometeorology of the Amazon Basis to Human Pressure” led by Roni Avissar be included as an LBA project.

  11. IMPLEMENTED • The LBA SSC recommends that the project “Conservação da biodiversidade e dos serviços ambientais da floresta: Bases para o desenvolvimento sustentavel da Amazônia” led by Philip Fearnside be included as an LBA project provided that the PI agrees to comply with the LBA data policy
