  1. Pre-K Program Update September 5, 2013

  2. Huntsville City Schools Pre-K Program Pre-Kindergarten Education in Huntsville City Schools took an exciting leap during the 2011-2012 school year. A t the request of Dr. Wardynski, a task force was formed to develop a Comprehensive Pre-Kindergarten Plan. The Pre-K program would provide a high quality, research-based, full-day program for four year olds who were most at risk academically and economically. The goal was to prepare students to enter kindergarten ready for school and to perform at or above grade level by second grade. As a result, in January 2012 thirteen classes were opened at seven non-title schools and six Title I schools. Highly qualified early childhood teachers and certified Instructional Assistants were assigned to these classrooms. The program curriculum is fully aligned to meet state and national standard for Early Childhood Education. The classrooms are equipped with materials and supplies that are age-appropriate to foster a positive learning environment.
