Purpose of this conceptual model • To define common objectives for ECAI gazetteer, such as a content standard, information sharing and interchange. • To clarify requirements for fields of content standard based on a variety of attributes, such as gazetteer, time, functionality, GIS representation, and so on.

  13. Issue What kind of categories/themes and related fields should be included for each BOX (such as gazetteer, place, location) under this conceptual model?

  14. Issue - example • Place and NameBesides variant names, language, etymology, and history, do we have other requirements for PLACE and NAME? Such as how to distinguish the same name for different place and location? • LocationBesides the requirements for spatial and administrative location, do we have other requirement for LOCATION? Such as population, and so on.
