  1. Unrest in the Middle East Current Situations

  2. Tunisia • When Ben Ali has left the country with his wife the ruling class under him remains behind and still follows orders from him.

  3. Algeria • The State Department warns U.S. citizens of the risks to travel to Algeria. • Terrorist attacks like bombings, fake roadblocks, kidnappings, ambushes, and assassinations occur regularly in this country.

  4. Egypt • Very dangerous and highly complex situations emerged in the streets of Egypt. • Causing the situation the Egyptian government used its emergency powers to restrict citizens access to phone service and the Internet.

  5. Libya • At least 1,000 people protested against the rule of Muammar Gaddafi have been taken to the streets of Tripoli the Libyan capital raising fears of conflict between anti government protesters and loyal forces.

  6. Saudi Arabia • The Department of State authorized that all family members of the U.S. Embassy Riyadh, U.S. Consulate General Jeddah, and U.S. Consulate General Dhahran, but continues to warn U.S. citizens about the security situation in Saudi Arabia and reminds U.S. citizens of recommended security precautions.

  7. Jordan • The measures taken by king Abdallah II ever since the beginnings of the popular riot • in Tunisia in order to avoid a similar situation in the Hashemite Kingdom seem at least at first sight to reach their goals.

  8. Yemen • The European Union’s anti terrorism chief warned following the kidnapping of nine foreigners by guerilla forces on June 14 that Yemen could become another Afghanistan.

  9. Syria • 1.7 million Kurds live in Syria a much smaller number than in Turkey, Iran, or Iraq.
