- History 1976-1980: Apple I and Apple II released Apple incorporated on January 3, 1977 1981-1985: Apple Lisa and MacIntosh released 1986-1993: MacIntosh Portable released and line of Centris computers introduced Apple sued Microsoft! 1994-1997: Apple allied with IBM and Motorola In 1997 Apple joined with Microsoft to release new versions of Microsoft Office Apple online store was introduced

A brief look at history - The beginning. Microsoft was founded by Bill Gates and Paul Allen. Microsoft was established on April the 4th, 1975 to develop and sell BASIC interpreters for the Altair 8800. Microsoft moved its headquarters to Redmond(Washington, USA) on February 26, 1986
- The early years While jointly developing a new OS with IBM in 1984, OS/2, Microsoft released Microsoft Windows, a graphical extension for MS-DOS, on November 20. On March 13 1986 the company went public. The ensuing rise in the stock made an estimated four billionaires and 12,000 millionaires from Microsoft employees Microsoft introduces Microsoft Office, in 1990. The software bundled separate office productivity applications, such as Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel. On May 22 1990 Microsoft launched Windows 3.0.
- The 90s On May 26, 1995 Microsoft began to expand its product line into computer networking and the World Wide Web The company released Windows 95 on August 24, 1995
- The new millennium Bill Gates steps down as CEO, creating a new position for himself as Chief Software Architect. Steve Balmer becomes CEO. On October 25, 2001 Microsoft released Windows XP. And then release the Xbox later that year.
- The present Windows Vista released in January 2007. Microsoft Office 2007 is released with it too. Bill Gates retired from his role as Chief Software Architect on June 27, 2008, but remained as a chairman. On October 22, 2009 Windows 7 was officially released to the public.
