  2. Activity 1 – Reflecting on goals • On a piece of paper write about the learning goals that you created in semester one. Honestly discuss how you went about attempting to achieve these goals. What did you do well? What were the difficulties (blockers) you had? What did you do to try and achieve these goals? Write honestly and openly for you self.

  3. Reflecting on goals • Share parts of your reflection with a partner. Discuss what difficulties you had.

  4. Reflecting on goals • As a group discuss some of the difficulties you experienced with • Writing goals • Monitoring goals • Achieving goals

  6. Activity 2 - Developing goals

  7. Learning goals • Brainstorm ideas on what qualities or activities make a good learner and a poor learner. Divide the whiteboard in two and document these on the board. • Examples

  8. Learning goals • Attempt to write a learning goal for this semester • Is it SMART • SPECIFIC • MEASURABLE • ACHIEVABLE • REALISTIC • TIME-SPECIFIC

  14. Organisation Goal • Write an organisational goal. Make sure it is SMART. • Is it SMART • SPECIFIC • MEASURABLE • ACHIEVABLE • REALISTIC • TIME-SPECIFIC

  15. Relationship Goal • Discuss • How do positive relationships make you a better learner? • What do I need to do to make a relationship positive?

(Below are some suggestions) • Ask the teacher for clarification about task expectations. • Ask my partner to read my essay and make 3 positive and 3 negative comments to help improve my writing style. • Explain to my friend how to solve a mathematical problem.

  18. Relationship Goal • Write up goal to help develop better relationships between either your teachers or peers to support your learning. • Is it SMART • SPECIFIC • MEASURABLE • ACHIEVABLE • REALISTIC • TIME-SPECIFIC

  19. Activity 3 – Write out goals • Discuss your goals with each other. Are they SMART goals. • Discuss goals with teacher. • When ready complete Part 2 – Setting learning Goals in your planner. (page 126)

  20. Homework • In preparation for next session you are to answer section 2.4 in planner - What will you need to ensure you can meet your goals?
