  2. There was a creek and some fruit trees in the remote mountains of Algeria, with nobody around to take care of them..

  3. Then one day, Neil and Lora came along...

  4. They had a vision called ‘Permaculture and Superadobe’They took on the land that was once their ancestors’...

  5. And first built a littleDome, to put theirtools and equipment in whilst working on their land

  6. They started to dig ditches to collect the rainwater and called it ‘Swale’ design! And we think that’s just SWALE 

  7. The Trees already hanging in there for the last few decades were happy to see them..Almond trees said Marhaban!

  8. Figs...fresh or dried they are such a delight!

  9. Who can live without olives? Especially in this region...

  10. They set to work and built Swales, Hugels, Ponds, a Super Adobe Cisternand Guilds around those existing old trees

Assessment & Goals • Arid mountain climate, alkaline soils • Fig, olive, and almond trees serve as a basis to create a food forest. • Lands used in traditional agriculture by families before industrialization.Grewall the families’ foods. • Limited soils, geographic and topographic dataavailable. • Creekwater from September through April • Livingexample to community to teach and inform them of the possibilities of living off the land, and to be self-sufficient as was done 40 years ago. • Communityfood sharing, fun activities for children and families. • Develop guilds (See Appendix A)
