  4. The vision • To be a leading trainer in commercial knowledge and competences, to enable our students and clients excel in professional and life long goals.

The Mission • Our mission is to provide commercial competences and knowledge that are career-oriented, innovative and responsive to the needs of students, employers and the self-employed; to realize competitive return on investment and to contribute to the advancement of best business practices and the excellence of our clientele in Uganda, the Great Lakes Region and beyond.

The Logo • SYMBOLISM: The BALD EAGLE carrying a scroll, then a key and pen to signify: • Excellent vision • Soaring heights – the sky being the limit • Agility, daring courage, will and splendour • Accuracy • Knowledge, competence and literacy to open doors; the key and the tools we use to advance.

Broad strategy • Maintain a low cost operation. • Collaborate with institutions of repute to attain organazational learning. • Widen variety with courses that allow optimal use of existing resources (economies in scale and scope) • Keep agile; lean and close (proximity) • Move to the users whenever possible

The Six strategic goals:2009 to 14 • Produce competent and entrepreneurial graduates with skills and all-round employability potential. • Develop an empowered and efficient faculty to deliver modern business knowledge and skills • Establish affiliations, collaborations and mandates necessary for a DAI of academic excellence • Develop space and infrastructure to meet the growing needs • Build the Brand • Realize reasonable return on investment and source for development funding

Scheduled activities • There are 128 scheduled activities over the five year period that include: • Adopting and training staff in transformational learning • Conducting an Employers perception of MBS graduates • Regular self evaluation sessions • Establishing and implementing a staff development plan • Carrying out jobs profiling • Soliciting for development funding • Establishing a research centre • Initiating results oriented incentives • Recruiting staff essential for new courses • Conducting compensation survey etc.

Enabling law • The Universities and Other Tertiary Institutions Act (2001) as amended provides: • S71(1) A tertiary institution may, for purposes of promoting its academic programmes, and with the approval of the National Council, affiliate with a Public(or Private) University if: (a) The institutional standards governing the performance, operations and conduct of the institute are acceptable to the University , (b) its institutional standards conform to the standards set by the NCHE. • S71(3): A Tertiary Institution affiliated to a University shall, as may be agreed in relation to awards, conduct courses leading to awards of certificates, diplomas or degrees of that University under standards provided under this Act and Statutes made and guidelines issued by the University and shall in connection with the relevant awards, jointly conduct examinations leading to those awards.

What we are looking for • Affiliation to selected degree courses • Opportunity for staff development, such as participation in setting/marking of exams, enrollment to higher degrees, research co-operation. • Limited access to faculty/exchange/visitation • Conducting periodic and pre-examination sessions/seminars • Participation in development and review of curricula • Accreditation of MBS awards • Enrollment referrals
