  3. Suzy is tan and white with a wonderful temperament. She gets along well with other dogs and loves people. She is housebroken and loves being in the house with her humans. Suzy has a classic basset expression and build; very sturdy and low to the ground. She is currently on a specialized diet because of suspected stomach ulcers and is getting along very well. Suzy is one of those dogs that you just can't help but love; she has absolutely no bad habits or personality problems. Suzy, has been in foster care a long time now and is 12 years old now, but she is certainly spoiled and loved and her foster mom and dad do not mind if she stays forever.

  4. She is still on the overweight side but has slimmed down a bit. She gets around pretty well, but she can only do a few stairs due to age and weight. She sleeps downstairs in one of two soft, special beds (she chooses her favorite of the moment). She loves to bark and gets excited when it is dinnertime or if the neighbor kids come by. She is just super-social and she feels like talking. When she wants something, including love, she will come find her foster mom and paw at her until Suzy gets what she wants. Even though she may not be around many more years, she would certainly give someone much joy.

  5. Suzy • She is a sweet basset hound. • She wanted to visit everyone.

  6. Claire came to BHRG from the shelter in Walker County where her owners dumped her. This little basset is 2 to 3 years old and is a pretty, tri-colored girl. She is so scared that she's lost her family and when we first picked her up, she was too scared to walk. She's being checked out at the vet and is spayed and up-to-date on her shots. We hope to have more details soon. ADOPTION PENDING!

  7. Claire • She was shy and mostly laid down by her foster parents.

  8. Claudia is a red & white girl who came to BHRG from a shelter in northeast Georgia. She is petite and cute, and she has no tail. This little gal is a bit skittish and may have been abused in the past. She loves to be outside, and although she's a bit shy in the house, she is housetrained. She may open up as she learns to trust people. Claudia does well in the crate or finds a nice soft spot to sleep. She really loves kids and is a very gentle young girl. She needs a family with patience and love.

  9. Claudia • She loves to be outside. • She was all over this one lady and looked for her when she left. • She was so cute.

  10. Delores is a 6 year-old, red & white female with the softest fur in the world! She makes you want to squeeze her just like charmin. Delores came to BHRG from the shelter in Thomasville. She has completed treatment for heartworms. She weighs in at 40 lbs and is very friendly. She loves her stuffed toys and will do the cutest thing carrying them around and then she will bury them in her bed or under her blanket as if to protect her toy from harm.Delores is a very obedient girl and will go out when you call her, and will go right into her crate/bed when you ask her to.

  11. If her home has older kids who know how to give her some space, she'd be fine there since she loves hugs but doesn't like kids or people to lay on her. She is a very low maintenance dog and is completely trustworthy when you leave her home. She is vocal when she is hungry or wants to play and does a cute little bark/howl that will make you smile. Delores needs to be an "only" dog because she is just too bossy with other hounds. Delores is the sweetest, most loving dog and will give a family lots of joy!

  12. Delores • She was very vocal. • Every time someone would come by, she would have to bark.

  13. Gemini is a red & white female basset who is 9 years old. Her owner could no longer care for her, so Gemini is looking for a new home. Gemini is very affectionate and enjoys attention. She is in excellent health and weighs approximately 50 lbs. She's up-to-date on shots and heartworm prevention, and Gemini is spayed. She is mostly, if not completely, housebroken. When gone for long periods, her foster family confines Gemini to the kitchen and she does just fine there.

  14. Gemini definitely has a mind of her own and lets you know when she does not like the way things are going..,....but not in an agressive way. she is just vocal. Gemini is very much a "people dog". She just loves her humans and would welcome anyone to snuggle on her mat with her. She also enjoys her one or two mile walks in the neighborhood and is very upset if they do not happen daily. Gemini can actually run....but not for long. Can you open your home to this wonderful basset?

  15. Gemini • She had to be moving. • She would also bark at some people.

  16. Henry is stray basset who was rescued by a lady in Augusta who made sure he got all of his shots. He appears to be 3 to 5 years old and is a rare "blue" basset. Henry seems to get along well with other dogs but does prefer to be the dominant male. He's friendly with all sorts of people and gets along well with kids. Henry has loads of personality and he'd like another dog for companionship. If left alone for more than an hour, Henry will "scold" you with sharp, low barks when you return to let you know his displeasure. He is a curious hound and will get into anything if he gets bored or lonely.

  17. He is housetrained and uses a dog door easily. Henry loves his crate and will nap in it during the day. Henry likes lots of naps and will try to get on the couch whenever you aren't looking. He will happily walk on a leash, but he always lets you know that he's in control of what direction you're walking. He never learned to play with toys as a puppy, but will spend hour after hour devouring a rawhide bone with single-minded determination. Henry is a great hound who would make a wonderful addition to a family. He recently had some tumors removed and he's healed nicely. • Also known as Henry Foster when in trouble.

  18. Henry • He was very stressed. • He has cancer. • Henry would growl and grumble at everyone who came close to him. • It was amusing.

  19. Liberty is a tri-colored female who came to BHRG from the shelter in Statesboro. She gets along fine with cats & dogs but is very afraid of men. She can be a bit nervous arounf strange women, but she warms up eventually. Liberty has the bark of a 400 lb dog and loves to eat getting very excited at mealtime. She would do best in a home with no men and a canine companion. As she settles in at her foster home, her foster mom is seeing more and more of the playful, sweet hound Liberty will blossom into.

  20. Liberty • She hid the entire time under a jacket.

  21. Rosie B. • She was new • Very shy, but friendly • I was the one to hold her leash • She was being bred to death
