  2. The Woman’s Suffrage Movement focused around women rallying for their rights. The rights to work, vote, to own property, and to be considered equal to men.

  3. Key Players Susan B. Anthony was an early social activist. She helped found NWSA in 1869. She was honored after her death when an American coin was made with her face on it. Elizabeth Cady Stanton was an active abolitionist known for her long contribution for the Women’s Suffrage. She helped organize the Seneca Falls convention in 1848.

  4. More Key Players Julia Ward Howe wrote “The Battle Hymn of the Republic”. After the Civil War she focused on pacifism and the Women’s Suffrage. Lucy Stone’s speech in the 1850’s converted Susan B. Anthony to the suffrage cause. She was considered on the radical side of Women’s Rights.

Public Education -Many children as young as six were forced to work sun up to sun down thus having no opportunity to be educated -Many immigrant children would go to night school as an attempt to keep learning -Between 1895 and 1910 most of the states passes a law requiring children to have at least 6 years of schooling -Jane Addams was a large contributor to the education of children. She founded “Hull House” which was a large house where children could gather to get out of the dirty slums and receive an education.
