Flag Facts • The colors represented the aspiration for freedom that all men share: red, white and blue. • The three blue stripes represent the island was separated into three separate sections • The white stripes imply force and dedication • A red triangle for equality, fraternity, and liberty

  3. Intro • Spanish rule was severe and exploitative and occasional rebellions were harshly suppressed. • It was US intervention during the Spanish-American War in 1898 that finally overthrew Spanish rule. • Cuba's Communist revolution, with Soviet support, was exported throughout Latin America and Africa during the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s.
