  2. Knowledge managers can supersede a document in whole by using the Superseding function. In the following example a document titled “TEST Original” is superseded by a document titled “TEST New”. Both documents have to be registered in the CAR before this can be done. At the Manager Menu Select SEARCH CATALOG Next>

  3. Enter Title for Document “TEST Original” and click on SEARCH “TEST Original” Appears in the Search result list Click the EDIT Icon to access the item’s metadata Next>

  4. At document “TEST Original’s” Metadata Screen Click on SUPERSEDE to begin the process Next>

  5. Now, find the superseding document. Enter the title for superseding document “TEST New” and click on SEARCH “TEST New” appears in the search result list Click the SUPERSEDE Icon Next>

  6. The status of document “TEST Original” will show as being superseded once an update request is done. Click on UPDATE to continue the process. Next>

  7. At the verify Screen, verify the data Then enter Supersede/ change history info as desired, and click on OK Next>

  8. At the Response Screen, review the results Then click on OK Document “TEST Original” has now been Superseded by Document “TEST New” Next>

  9. You will be returned to the Search Form Search for document “TEST Original” again… …. and the search results will show the item as Superseded Note: Making an item obsolete does not remove it from the system. It does make it non-discoverable to CAR search users. Metadata Information does remain that can be seen by the Knowledge Managers and Administrators Next>

  10. For a final check perform a Catalog Search for “TEST Original” Search results shows that document “TEST Original” is Superseded by “TEST New”
