  1. CAR Training ModulePRODUCT REGISTRATION and MANAGEMENT Module 7-Change a Product’s Status to Obsolete (Run as a PowerPoint show) Start>

  2. Knowledge Managers have the capability to find and Obsolete/ Remove Documents and Links for their Knowledge Centers. The following is a demonstration of this capability: At the Manager Menu Select SEARCH CATALOG Next>

  3. Search for the desired item by entering the item’s ID, Title, or Keyword and clicking on SEARCH The Search result list will then appear For the item of Interest, Click the EDIT Icon to access the item’s metadata Next>

  4. The Item‘s Metadata form will display. Click the OBSOLETE Button to change the item’s status to Obsolete… (…or the CANCEL button to stop the process) Next>

  5. At the Obsolete Submit screen enter applicable change History Information… …and Click OK to complete the obsolescing operation (or click Cancel to stop the request) Next>

  6. View the Obsolete Request confirmation message … ….Click OK to Close Next>

  7. You will be returned to the Search Form Click the Search button again… …. and the search results will show the item as Obsolete Note: Making an item obsolete does not remove it from the system. It does make it non-discoverable to CAR search users. Metadata Information does remain that can be seen by the Knowledge Managers and Administrators
