  5. ▪ Developed and designed in New Zealand ▪ Robust and Rugged to meet the demands of NZ's environment ▪ Separates ‘Black’ and ‘Grey’ water for individual treatments ▪ No Power required in any treatment process ▪ Use’s ‘Natures’ well established, efficient and sustainable filtration processes ▪ Respects our ‘Environment’ ▪ Virtually maintenance free using natural processes, that work around the clock for FREE! ▪ Cost effective from day one and into the future ▪ Quiet passive system – Nature works quietly Why choose Natural Flow? We do it simpler, Natures Way…

  6. ▪ Low Site Impact – light machinery and minimal excavation ▪ Has a small compact footprint ▪ Versatile modular system - built to suit your individual needs ▪ Great for Difficult Sites – modular design means most modules can be ‘Man-handled’ into place if needed ▪ Accommodates and works with all of today's modern conveniences ▪ ‘YES to Garbage Grinders’ – at last a robust system that recommends Garbage Grinders! ▪ Save Your Water – reuse your ‘grey water’ on plantings etc, a precious element in today’s world that needs protecting for tomorrow Why choose Natural Flow? We do it simpler, Natures Way…

  7. Soil Microbiology ▪ Nature uses soil to purify water ▪ Nature uses microbes in the soil to process dead matter, this is called decomposition ▪ Soil typically will buffer water to a neutral pH ▪ Soil bio-technology consumes very little energy and produces oxygen ▪ Bacteria in the soils help to destroy organics which may be contained in the effluent ▪ Soil filters are optimised to significantly reduce nutrient/pollution loads ▪ Combined with plantings will release large amounts of water into the atmosphere through transpiration ▪ Worms feed on bacteria and maintain the microbes of the soil Founding principles We do it simpler, Natures Way…

  8. Water Treatment ▪ Water cannot sustain dead matter ▪ There is no dead in water ▪ Anything that deceases in water will make its way to soil to be de-composed ▪ Very costly to oxygenate to support aerobic bacteria Founding principles We do it simpler, Natures Way…

  9. The Mighty ‘Tiger Worm’… The scientific name is Eisenia foetida, also known as Redworm, Red Wiggler, Brandlings or Manure Worm ▪ The Tiger worm is an Epigeic worm, i.e. they live on the surface of the soil ▪ Closely related to the common earthworm but are much more aggressive ▪ Tiger Worms thrive in rotting vegetation, compost and manure ▪ Are usually found feasting on heaps of animal manure, rotting leaf mounds and other organic materials that are on top of the soil ▪ Tiger Worms possess all the characteristics needed for composting and have proven to be the most effective in the composting process ▪ The gut of the worm is teeming with bacteria and enzymes with which it digests its food ▪ Are capable of producing casings that are 100% natural Understanding vermiculture We do it simpler, Natures Way…

  10. The Mighty ‘Tiger Worm’ cont… ▪ Are able to dig deep into the soil (up to inches to be exact) allowing a more loosened and aerated soil ▪ Consume half or even as much as their body mass daily, its weight being from 0.5 to 1 gram Temperatures ▪ Tiger worms can easily tolerate temperatures from 3 to 27 degrees Celsius and will burrow down to protect themselves, if needed. ▪ Natural Flow’s worms are bred in Cromwell where the temperatures range from between, -7 – 38oC Lifecycle of Tiger Worms ▪ Tigers take 53 to 76 days to reach sexual maturity and are bi-sexual ▪ The eggs take 2-3 weeks to hatch. ▪ As a guide, in ideal conditions, you can expect to double the weight of your Tiger worm population in 3-4 months. ▪ 1 kg of adult worms would contain around 2,000 worms. 11. What is transpiration? Transpiration is the process by which moisture is carried through plants from roots to small pores on the underside of leaves, where it changes to vapour and is released to the atmosphere. Did you know? ▪ Up to 95% of the water absorbed by roots is lost via transpiration through plant leaves ▪ 5% is retained by the plant for growth ▪ Studies have revealed that about 10 percent of the moisture found in the atmosphere is released by plants through transpiration. The remaining 90 percent is mainly supplied by evaporation from oceans, seas, and other bodies of water (lakes, rivers, streams) ▪ An acre of corn gives off about 3,000-4,000 gallons (11,400-15,100 litres) of water each day, and a large oak tree can transpire 40,000 gallons (151,000 litres) per year Plantings & transpiration We do it simpler, Natures Way…

  12. How fast does water move through plants? Transpiration rates depend on two major factors: 1) the driving force for water movement from the soil to the atmosphere and 2) the resistances to water movement in the plant. Driving force: The driving force for transpiration is the difference in water potential between the soil and the atmosphere surrounding the plant. The drier the air around the plant, the greater the driving force is for water to move through the plant and the faster the transpiration rate Breeze or air movement will greatly enhance transpiration Accessing nutrients from the soil: The water that enters the root contains dissolved nutrients vital to plant growth, like nitrates, ammonia etc. It is thought that transpiration enhances nutrient uptake into plants. 13. How it Works GREY WATER MODULE The grey water is separated at its source and flows to the grey water module where it is filtered through a matrix filter which retains soap scum hair and fine particles and is disposed of quickly to prevent petrification. Storing grey water will only cause problems and unpleasant odours. WORMORATOR & DOSE MODULES The black water is separated at its source and flows to the WORMORATOR® module which mimics natures most economical and efficient way to filtrate and decompose solid matter. 23. System Maintenance At Waterflow NZ Ltd we never advertise or teach that any wastewater treatment system is a ‘set and forget’ – a culture of neglect is no culture at all! Rather - Waterflow has developed a system that is very robust in terms of shock loading and capacity, has the ability to deal to a garbage grinder, and will deliver consistent results even under pressure Nature does look after herself! However… Although Natural Flow is a natural living system, as with all living organisms a little care will ensure that it will run at peak performance for many years. Virtually maintenance FREE We do it simpler, Natures Way…
