  1. AP Vocab List 6.1 Our vernacular is spectacular! ;)

  2. Adv. Not regularly or consistently • On Sunday nights I tend to sleep fitfully because I have so much on my mind about the upcoming week. Fitfully

  3. Adj. Full of light • We were surprised at how luminous the night sky is in Wyoming. When you get away from city lights, the stars really are amazing! Luminous

  4. N. Inability to see at a distance; lack of foresight; intolerance • Because of her myopia, Charlene missed out on knowing some fabulous people; she dismissed anyone who looked different from herself, though. Myopia

  5. Adj. Inactive • Braden is looking forward to a couple of weeks being as torpid as possible, since he’s worn out from football season. Torpid

  6. Adj. Being troubled; worrying • I can tell when my son is anxious because of his fretting with his shirt-tail. Fretting

  7. N. Idle chatter • Don’t waste my time palavering; get to the point! Palaver

  8. Adj. Hazy; vague; ill-defined • If you write a nebulous response to an essay prompt, you’ll never score well. One of the essential traits of good writing is a clear main idea and purpose. Nebulous 

  9. N. Small entrance hall • Crammed into the apartment’s vestibule was a coat rack, umbrella stand, dog dish, and a table; we couldn’t even get in the door! Vestibule

  10. N. Lack of concern; casual manner conveying indifference • Marlon was aiming for an air of casual nonchalance in the interview, but the manager read it as a lack of interest and didn’t offer him the job. Nonchalance

  11. Adj. Angry at something unjust • Marlon became indignant at not attaining the position, but he realized he had only himself to blame for playing it too cool. Indignant
