Palau's population is approximately 20,000, with 9 cumulative HIV cases reported, including one new case in 2008. Currently, three individuals are living with HIV, while four have unfortunately passed away. Around 1,500 to 1,700 HIV tests are conducted annually, revealing challenges in testing with false positives and indeterminate results. Pregnant women (30%) and blood donors (40%) comprise significant testing demographics. Due to a shortage of healthcare professionals, there is a need for training and improvement in monitoring and care protocols.
