Some People Today Need Reasons to Obey • Ephesians 6:1 “for this is right” • Titus 2:10 “that they may adorn the Doctrine of God our Savior in all things” • Romans 13:7 “he is God’s minister to you for good” • Romans 13:1-4 “no authority except from God” “There are good reasons to obey all of these things.”

  3. Reasons To Obey God • Because I Believe There Is A God- • Romans 1:19-23 • What Kind of God Must He Be? • A Person – i.e. Personality • Infinite in Size- made Universe • Infinite in Knowledge – complex Creation • Powerful beyond Comprehension • Able to Destroy Everything we know Matthew 10:28

  4. I Will Obey Because- • I face an All-Knowing • All Powerful • Person • Who can Destroy Me if I become Utterly Displeasing to Him! • Don’t Dare Refuse if He Speaks – Hebrews 12:25

  5. I Believe the Bible is God’s Revealed Message to Man • 40 Authors, 1600 Years, fisherman to Kings, themes & Ideas unparalleled in any other ancient or modern literature • Historical Accuracy more uncanny than any other humanly written document in history

  6. I Believe the Bible is God’s Revealed Message to Man • Knowledge & Understanding Far Excelling prejudices & misconceptions of their own time

  7. IF it was Only Written by Men, Questions Need Answers: • How can it be so unified in purpose & plan? • How can it contain details of events which occurred 700-1000 years AFTER the writing? • How could it be so historically accurate?

IF it was Only Written by Men, Questions Need Answers: • How could it contain so high a standard of morality that most of its heroes & even its writers are embarrassed or condemned by what it says about them? • How could these men have ALL risen above the prejudices & human ignorance of their day?

  9. IF I Believe the Bible is The Word of God…. • I believe God spoke to Mankind in the Past to Prepare them for His coming Son – 2 Peter 1:19-21 • Galatians 3:21-26 • I believe God speaks to us Now Through His Son- Hebrews 1:1,2 • I believe the Message of Christ is in The N.T. – Hebrews 9:11-15

  10. IF I Believe the Bible is The Word of God…. • I believe God Speaks to Me & You Today in This Message – Acts 17:30,31; Mark 16:15,16 • I believe Then That I Should Obey What I Have Been Told From This Source – Luke 6:46

  11. I Believe That I Must Obey God Because: • I Believe God Knows My Name- Psalm 147:4; Genesis 22:17 • How? Matthew 10:29-31 • Special Place for Names of the Righteous- Luke10:20; Philippians 4:3; Hebrews 4:12,13 Psalm 139:1-12

  12. I May Run, But I Can’t Hide! I Can Never Escape the Consequences of Not Obeying God!

  13. I Believe That I Must Obey God Because: • I Believe God Loves Me! • He shouldn’t be concerned with a speck like me- Psalm 8:1-9 • Why Should He Love Me? Romans 3:23; Titus 3:3-5 • HE DOES- Luke 15:1-4; 1 Peter 2:24,25; Romans 5:8; John 3:16

  14. If I Believe God Loves Me, It is The Greatest Motive of All! • Love Demands a Response • 1 John 4:19 • 1 John 4:10,11 • We Learned It From God! • John 12:32,33 • 1 John 5:1-3 • John 14:15
