Strålandejord –Citizenscience and more Radioactive contents in biological samples gathered by Swedish school classes. Uptake and retention of radionuclides as function of e.g. geology, hydrology fungus species, forest type. Interdisciplinary: Physics, Geosciences and Biology.

EURAD European Joint Programme on Radioactive Waste Management (EURAD) Starting in 2019, if funded: 5 year EU-funded programme with 52 partners. UU leads work package on “Spent Fuel Characterisation and Evolution until Disposal” (SFC).
Multivariate analysis (MVA) Can nuclear safeguards be strengthened by using MVA? Can MVA be used to augment detector performance? Can MVA be used for monitoring recycling of HLW?

NESSA (NEutron Source in uppSAla):a facility under development • Motivation • Maintain and develop national competence in: • nuclear physics • neutron physics • radiation physics • radiation protection • detection techniques • neutron tomography • radiation effects • Envisaged parameters • Neutron energy: 14 MeV • Neutron yield: up to 1011 n/s • Usable neutron flux: up to 109 n/cm2/s • Beam spot size: up to ~50 cm • Pulsing option: Yes • Update on the project status • Procurement of the neutron generator (NG): contract to be signed in December 2018 • Design of the radiation protection using the MCNP code: ready on the concept level • Planned availability for external users: fromyear 2020
