Suspect Profiles – Scarborough7(a) - Fahim Ahmad • Founder and original ringleader of the Toronto 18 • Regarded as an Islamic spiritual leader to youths • Distributed videos of 9/11 hijackers at his mosque • Intended to behead politicians until Canadian troops pulled from Afghanistan • 2002: Involved in communications with jihadists in Alberta • 2004: Active on anti-Western websites such as ClearGuidance.com • Aug 13, 2005: Rented car for Dirie and Mohamed • Dec 18, 2005: Held a military-style training and recruitment camp in Washago, ON • Feb 4, 2006: Drove to Opsatika, ON with Durrani, Chand and Shaikh to view a house for sale as a potential safe-house • May, 2006: Organized a second camp in the Rockwood Conservation Area, ON

Suspect Profiles – Scarborough7(b) - Amin Mohamed Durrani • Born: June 17, 1986 in Pakistan • Immigrated to Canada in 1998 • Lived with his family in Toronto • Graduated from Stephen Leacock Collegiate Institute • Enrolled at Centennial College for civil aviation (engineering as opposed to flying), but did not complete course • Friends stated Amin's appearance began to change in late 2005 and began to associate more with a traditional Muslim friend circle • Participated in Ahmad's two training camps • Accompanied Ahmad in search for a safehouse in Feb 2006 • Often seen with Steven Vikash Chand attempting to recruit high-school students in Toronto

Suspect Profiles – Scarborough7(c) - Jahmaal James • Born: April 17, 1983 in Canada • Parents of West Indies descent • Lived with his family in Scarborough • Converted to Islam from Christianity • Arranged a marriage after advice from fundamentalist Imam Aly Hindy • Mar 6, 2005: Participated in meeting with Ahmad and Americans: Ahmed and Sadequee • Nov 5, 2005:Travelled to Lahore, Pakistan to marry Sima • During wedding trip, James also seeked paramilitary training • Allegedly trained for 1 week in small arms in Balakot with members of Lashkar-e-Tayyiba • Mar 20,2006: Illness prevented any further training, James returned to Toronto • Disassociated with Ahmad as he viewed tactics as reckless upon return

Suspect Profiles – Scarborough7(d) - Steven Vikash Chand • Born: March 2, 1981 in Canada • Parents of Fijian descent • Converted to Islam from Hinduism in 2002 • Enrolled in the Royal Regiment of Canada from Jun 2000 - Apr 2004 • Employed at a Shawarma restaurant • Attended Salaheddin Islamic Centre, lead by fundamentalist Imam Aly Hindy • Recruited by Ahmad and Amara who also attended the mosque • Adopted the alias Abdul Shakur • Dec 18, 2005: Attended training camp as a trainer • Accompanied Ahmad in search for a safehouse in Feb 2006 • Planned to take out fraudulent bank loans to fund the group • Distanced himself from Ahmad in March 2006

Suspect Profiles – Scarborough7(e) - Mohammed Ali Dirie • Born: August 10, 1983 in Somalia • Immigrated to Canada in 1990 as refugee • Employed in carpentry • Friends with Yasin Abdi Mohamed • Starting in Jan 2005, Mohamed and Dirie would frequently travel to New York to purchase discount clothing to resell to Toronto businesses • Aug 13, 2005: Dirie and Mohamed travelled to Columbus, Ohio to purchase firearms in a car rented by Ahmad • Aug 2005: Arrested re-entering Canada at the Peace Bridge border with 2 loaded handguns taped to waist • Attempted to obtain false travel documents

Suspect Profiles – Scarborough7(f) - Yasin Abdi Mohamed • Born: November 6, 1981 in Somalia • Immigrated to Cambridge, ON, Canada in 1987 as refugee • Considered a troubled teenager, family moved to Toronto • Enrolled at Humber College but dropped out in first year • Employed as baggage handler at Pearson Airport, then ice cream vendor at Rogers Centre • Would frequently travel to New York to purchase discount clothing to resell to Toronto businesses with Mohammed Ali Dirie • Aug 2005: Dirie and Mohamed travelled to Ohio to purchase firearms in a car rented by Ahmad • Aug 13, 2005: Arrested re-entering Canada at the Peace Bridge border with 1 handgun in his waistband and ammunition in his sock

Suspect Profiles – Mississauga7(g) – Zakaria Amara • Born : August 18, 1985 in Jordan • His mother is from Turkish Cypriot descent and his father is of Arab origin. • Immigrated to Canada around 1997 • Converted to Islam from Christianity • Former Honored Student at Meadowvale Secondary School • Married with one daughter. • Worked at the Canadian Tire Gas Bar. • Dreamed of being Islamic Scholar. • Searched and located a “safe house” property in North Ontario. • Built and tested remote controlled detonator. • Participated in the Winter Training Camp • Sent the Video tapped material of the training overseas. • Arrested on February 2006.

Suspect Profiles – Mississauga7(h) – Shareef Abdelhaleem • Born: January 1, 1976 in Egypt. • Immigrated to Canada around 1986. • His father is an engineer with Atomic Energy of Canada Ltd. • Was computer engineer who earned a six figure salary. • Was the middle man between Amara and the Chemical Supplier. • Assisted in buying thousands of dollars worth of fertilizer to be use as explosive in a car bomb. • Obtained a religious fatwa from his father before committing himself to mass murder. • Provided advice to the group on how to best store bomb making chemicals.

Suspect Profiles – Mississauga7(i) – Saad Gaya • Born : November 17, 1987 in Canada • Born to Pakistani Parents • High school friend of Amara at Meadowvale Secondary School. • Lived in Oakville new Toronto, Canada. • Was a high school honor student. • Recruited by Amara to be part of the cell. • Identified himself as “student farmer” • Friend with Saad Khaild • Arrested on February 2006 while unloading the delivery truck filled with three tones of ammonium nitrate fertilizer destined for truck bombs.

Suspect Profiles – Mississauga7(j) – Saad Khalid • Born : August 12, 1986 in Saudi Arabia. • Immigrated to Canada around 1995. • High school friend of Amara at Meadowvale Secondary School • Was known among students for lecturing others not to take illegal drugs, or get in fights. • Turned to religion after his mother's death. • Attend the Winter Training Camp. • Created the "Religious Awareness Club” in high school, where he preached Islam during the lunch break. • Was a business student at the University of Toronto's' Mississauga campus. • Arranged the rental of the warehouse space to store the explosive material. • Arrested on February 2006.

Suspect Profiles – Mississauga7(k) – Asad Ansari • Born : March 8, 1985 in Pakistan. • Immigrated to Canada around 1997. • Met Ahmad and Amara at middle school. • Was a neighbor and good friend of Amara. • Attended the Winter Training Camp. • was unable to do some of the physical activities because he was overweight and out of shape. • Offered up his computer expertise to the group. • Helped Amara transfer the raw footage of the winter camp onto DVDs. • Arrested on February 2006.

Suspect Profiles – Mississauga7(l) – Qayyum Abdul Jamal • Born : April 1, 1963 in Pakistan. • Immigrated to Canada in the late 80’s. • Married to Canadian-born girl converted to Islam in 1994. • Father of four sons. • Worked as a school bus driver. • Was an active member of directors of the Al-Rahman Islamic Centre and Mosque in Mississauga, Toronto. • Attended the winter camp and continued to hang around Amara after the group split Suspected as the ringleader of the Toronto cell. Arrested on February 2006.

Suspect Profiles – Mississauga7(m) – Ahmad Mustafa Ghany • Born : September 27, 1984 in Canada. • His Parents immigrated to Canada from Trinidad and Tobago. • His father was Medical Doctor. • Health-sciences graduate from McMaster University in 2004. • Friends and family stated that he was "the most quiet guy ever", and "kind of a nerd" • He and Amara are married to sisters. • Helped set up the Training Camp. • Participated in the Winter Training Camp for three days only. • Arrested on February 2006.

Suspect Profiles – Mississauga7(n) – Ibrahim Alkhalel Aboud • Born : September 15, 1986 in Iraq. • Immigrated to Canada in his mid-teens. • Attended Streetsville Secondary School, then gone to high school with Amara. • Still a student at The Ryerson University when arrested. • Parents described him as a loner • Participated in the Winter Training Camp. • Arrested on February 2006.

Suspect Profiles7(o) – Nishanthan Yogakrishnan • Born Jan-May, 1988 • Immigrated to Canada in 1994 • Participated in Ahmad's two training camps • Described as mentally disordered • Other members suggested that he behead Prime Minister as he enjoyed chopping wood at training camps • Suggested that Aboriginals be converted to Islam, offering Montreal and Quebec City in exchange for killing Quebecois

Suspect Profiles7(p) – Young Offender #1 • Male • Grade 10 student at Stephen Leacock Collegiate Institute in Toronto • Converted to Islam from Hinduism • Mother disapproved of religious views, but offender believed he would go to hell if he desert Islam • Associated with Amin Durrani who also attendended Stephen Leacock Collegiate • Faked a school outing to attend one of Ahmad's training camps

Suspect Profiles7(s) – Syed Harris Ahmed • Born: Dec 9, 1984 in Pakistan • Immigrated to USA in 1997, became a citizen in 2003 • Lived with his family in Dawsonville, Georgia • Father is faculty member at North Georgia College & State University; the family was considered well-off • Friends with Ehsanul Islam Sadequee • Mar 6, 2005: Ahmed and Sadequee take a Greyhound bus to Toronto, spending 6 days in Canada • During trip, Ahmed and Sadequee associate with Ahmad and James • Aug 2005: Went to Pakistan • Mar 26, 2006: Arrested with Sadequee in a separate case, targeting US buildings • Jul 19, 2006: Indicted for attempting to join Lashkar-e-Taiba

Suspect Profiles7(t) – Ehsanul Sadequee • Born: Jul 30, 1986 in Fairfax, VA • Lived with his mother, brother and sister in Roswell, Georgia • Also known as “Shifa” • Friends with Syed Harris Ahmed • 2001: Tried to join Taliban while residing in Bangladesh • Feb 26, 2005: Bought 2 tickets for Greyhound to Toronto • Mar 6, 2005: Ahmed and Sadequee take a Greyhound bus to Toronto, spending 6 days in Canada • During trip, Ahmed and Sadequee associate with Ahmad and James • Aug 18, 2005: Returned to Bangladesh to find a wife, stopped at JFK Airport, lied about trip to Toronto • April 17, 2006: Arrested by Bangladesh authorities and sent back to USA with FBI

Suspect Profiles7(u) – Imam Aly Hindy • Born: Cairo, Egypt • Immigrated to Canada in 1975 • 1979: Received Doctorate in structural engineering from University of Western Ontario • Ontario Hydro safety engineer for 21 years • Friend of the Khadr family, noted for connections to al-Qaeda • Would later be described as a “focal point for Toronto area Islamic radicals” • Has performed several illegal polygamous marriages • Current Imam of Salaheddin Islamic Centre in Scarborough, ON • Mosque administrator signed as a guarantor on Dirie's Canadian passport • Hindy performed marriage of Amara • Ahmad and James attend mosque
