  1. One Million Homes Sold on HAR.com • Sixteen years after its launch as an online resource for consumers looking to buy a home, the Houston Association of REALTORS®’ (HAR) award-winning HAR.com website has facilitated one million home sales throughout the Greater Houston area as well as internationally. • The major real estate milestone was officially achieved in March. • Those one million home sales accounted for $190 billion in total dollar volume. • HAR.com has also served to generate 4.7 million leads for HAR REALTOR® members. • More than 1.6 million unique visitors click their way to HAR.com, accounting for an average of 1.5 billion Web hits every month – tremendous visibility for the more than 50,000 property listings posted there.

  2. Bloomberg Names Houston a “Boomtown” • Strong economic factors have earned the Houston area an esteemed spot on yet another national list: Bloomberg’s Top 12 American Boomtowns (see http://bloom.bg/11C8gXi). • Bloomberg ranked the fastest-growing metropolitan areas using a combined score based on population growth and growth in gross domestic product (GDP), adjusted for inflation. • The Houston-Sugar Land-Baytown area ranked No. 5 on the list with 8.15 percent growth in population over five years and 1.55 percent GDP compound annual growth. • U.S. Census Bureau data shows the Houston area's population grew from nearly 5.63 million in 2007 to almost 6.09 million in 2011, the year for which the most current metropolitan statistical area GDP data are available. • Bloomberg attributes Houston's strong growth to the oil and gas boom, as well as large employers such as mining companies and NASA's Johnson Space Center. • Austin topped the list. San Antonio edged out Houston at No. 4 and Dallas ranked 11th.

  3. Weekly HAR Market Stat Less supply, more demand and rising prices are being seen in residential markets across the nation. Although grumpy cats using national data sometimes grouse about the housing recovery's fragility, housing trends have remained positive for well over a year now, and the road ahead looks bright with better lending standards in place. Ominous headlines may benefit advertisers and search engine optimization, but local consumers informed of local situations are in a better position to leverage the market. In the Houston region, for the week ending April 21: • New Listings decreased 0.3% to 2,463 • Pending Sales increased 41.0% to 2,216 • Closed Sales increased 22.0% to 1,568
