  2. Early Life • Joni Mitchell (born Roberta Joan Anderson) is a Canadian musician, singer songwriter, and painter. • She first began singing in small nightclubs in Saskatchewan and Western Canada. Then she began performing in the streets of Toronto. • In 1965 she moved to the United States and became famous. www.dailymail.co.uk

Career • Touring constantly, she became recognizable for her original songs like “Urge for Going” and “Chelsea Morning” that were covered by notable folk singers. • This allowed her to sign with Reprise Records and record her debut album in 1968. She lived in Southern California, where her songs “Big Yellow Taxi” and “Woodstock” helped her become well known as an artist who helped define an era and generation. lifeasahuman.com • Her 1971 recording Blue has been called one of the best albums ever made.

More About Joni’s Career • Joni toured all around the world in places like: • The Music Hall, Boston – 1972 • Memorial Coliseum, Portland – 1979 • Christchurch Town Hall, Christchurch – 1983 • The George Amphitheatre, George – 1998 • In 1997 she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. • She has won a total of 8 Grammy Awards. • She also appeared on the Tonight Show in 1995.
