Ms. J’s Bio • Received B.S. in Sports Medicine from East Stroudsburg University in 1996. • Athletic Trainer for 15 years (College, Semi-Pro football, Pro Soccer, High School) • Received Teacher certification from Eastern University in 2010. • Second Year Teaching at C.D. East. • Working on Masters in Adaptive P.E. through Western Michigan. • Mother of Three year old- Ava Marie • NOTRE DAME FAN! GO IRISH!

  3. Expectations of Student • Be prompt • Be ready to learn when class begins. • Be prepared • Have materials with you and know due dates. • Be a polite and positive participant • Speak in a normal tone of voice, and listen attentively. • Be productive • Turn in work on time, and always do your best. • Be part of the solution. • Correct problems quickly and peacefully before they escalate.

  4. Expectations • Be empathic and respectful to classmates feelings and opinions. • We talk about sensitive topics and you don’t know who is going through what or how has gone through what.

  5. Responsibility for Coursework • Know due dates, and submit all coursework on time. • Absent Days: Students have three (3) days to complete makeup work. • Excused work: Based upon individual situations, certain work can be excused.

  6. Promote Positive Productivity My responsibility is to equip the students with the tools needed in order to be productive in their lives after High School. • Job, Responsibilities, and Relationships • Military Service • Post Secondary Education: Trade school, Technical School, College ect.

  7. Policies • Food and beverages are not allowed in the classroom. • Please be in your seat when the bell rings, as class begins at that time. • Major assignments and projects can be resubmitted. They will be scored at a 10% deduction. • Students are expected to give their best effort all of the time.

  8. Grading • Grades are based on the accumulation of points. • Points are based on: • Class participation (effort) • Completion of assignments (daily work, notebooks, in-class work) • Major projects, exams, and Quizzes • Grades are posted online and updated every Monday by 8 am. • Our Grading Scale • 90-100% = A • 80-89% = B • 70-79% = C • 60-69% = D • Below 60% = F • Grades are calculated on cumulative percentage and are rounded up whenever possible.

  9. I will trust you until you give me reason to do otherwise. • I will respect you and work with you to solve problems. • I will promptly correct and offer feedback on your work. • I will work with you to meet learning goals. • I will offer extra help and alternative assessments should you require them.

  10. Health Units • Psycho-Social Wellness: Health triangle, Decision making/goal setting, Character • Nutrition: Easting disorders, Reading food labels. • Chemical Substances: Types, Effects of drugs on the body, Refusal skills, Causes of abuse, ect. • Human Sexuality: Anatomy, Reproductive health, Conception to birth, Abstinence, STDS, Contraceptives • HIV/AIDS: Risk behaviors, Prevention, Transmission
