Classroom Expectations Introduction to Spanish 1 By Mrs. Watson
Student Behaviors • Be prompt • Be ready to learn when class begins. • Be prepared • Have materials with you and know due dates. • Be a polite and positive participant • Speak in a normal tone of voice, and listen attentively. Do not speak when others are speaking. • Be productive • Turn in work on time, and always do your best. Remember that grades are earned, not given.
Student behaviors (continued) • Be a problem solver • Correct problems quickly and peacefully before they escalate. If you cannot resolve a conflict peacefully, immediately tell the teacher that you need help. • Practice the Golden Rule. Do to others what you would want done to you.
Show Respect • Value yourself. Be honest and ethical, and practice strong moral values. • Treat all members of the school community and all visitors with politeness and respect. • Honor the ideas and opinions of others. • Offer to help. • Be responsible with property and belongings. If something does not belong to you, keep your hands off!
Responsibility for Coursework • Bring notebook, planner, and appropriate writing tools to class. Remember to bring what you need each day and do not depend on others to do your work for you. • Know due dates, and submit all coursework on time. • All assignments are posted on the bulletin board and on the class calendar.
Policies • Food and beverages are not allowed in the classroom. You may have unflavored water any time, but any other beverages will not be allowed. • Please be in your seat when the bell rings, as class begins at that time. Bell work should begin as soon as the tardy bell rings. • Major assignments and projects can be resubmitted. They will be scored at a 10% deduction. They must also be resubmitted by agreed upon deadline or the original grade will be the final grade.
Policies (continued) • Absences • Ask team members or a classmate first for assignments. Check in the work tray to pick up missed assignments. • You may make an appointment with me for help with missed work. The responsibility to ask for help is yours. I have approximately 110 students for whom I am responsible. I will not be able to chase any student down to make up missed assignments. However, I will help everyone who asks for an appointment and meets with me on time. • Each absence has a one-day grace period.
Grading • Grades are based on the accumulation of points. • Points are based on: • Daily class assignments and participation 40% • Major projects, exams, and self-reflection 30% • Homework.10% • Nine week exam 20% • Our Grading Scale • 90-100% = A • 80-89% = B • 70-79% = C • 60-69% = D • Below 60% = F • Grades are calculated on cumulative percentage and are rounded up whenever possible.
