Tuesday, September 28th • Bellringer on LEFT side of page 12 in notebook: • 1) How did being surrounded by deserts benefit Egypt? • 2) How did the Egyptians view the pharaoh? • 3) Why did Egyptians mummify bodies? • Title page 12, RIGHT side: EGYPT (Chapter 2, section 2). • Update your Table of Contents

  2. Page 12, Egypt, RIGHT side vocabulary • Make 3 columns on the RIGHT side and title them: • WORD • SENTENCE • PICTURE • Fill in the following under “WORD” • 1) theocracy • 2) Pharaoh • 3) pyramid • 4) Nile River • 5) Delta • 6) mummification • 7) papyrus • 8) hieroglyphics

  3. Page 12, RIGHT side vocabulary • Beside each word, write a sentence using that word. • Beside each sentence, draw a visual representation of that word. It can be anything that will help you remember that word. • Pharaoh • Mummification • Pyramid • Hieroglyphics • Papyrus • Delta • NileRiver • Theocracy

  4. Exit Slip • Go back to the Bellringer and make sure you have the answer to the 3 questions at the bottom of the LEFT on page 12 in your notebook. • Quiz #3 on Friday • (NOT paper/pencil)

  5. Wednesday, September 29th • Bellringer: On the LEFT side of page 13 in your notebook, draw a Venn Diagram with the following • 1) Egypt • 2) Nubia • Title the RIGHT side of page 13 “Egypt & Nubia” (Chapter 4, section 1) • Update your Table of Contents

Egypt & Nubia p.13 RIGHT side • Magnet Summary from Chapter 4, section 1 • Fold the paper in half vertically • Make 5 rows for your 2 columns • In the left rows, right the following topics in the middle of each square: • Nomads rule Egypt(p 89) • New Kingdom of Egypt (pp. 90-91) • Empire Declines(p. 91) • Kushites Conquer the Nile (pp. 92-93) • Golden Age of Meroe (p. 94)

  7. Egypt & Nubia p.13 RIGHT side • As you read each section, write 5 or fewer “magnet” words that magnetically “attract” to the term on the left. You will be writing these words around this term, keeping to the left side of your fold. • After you have your words, you will use the words to write a quick summary of that section on the right side of your fold.

  8. Exit Slip • Go back to the Bellringer and make sure you have the Venn Diagram completed for Egypt & Nubia with at least 2 items in each circle (and 2 common items). • Quiz #3 on Friday • Not paper/pencil

  9. Thursday, September 30th • Bellringer: Create a Venn Diagram on the left side of page 14 in your notebook for Aksum & Egypt (from chapter 8, section 3). • Setup page 4 with the title, “Aksum” • Update your Table of Contents

  10. Page 14 RIGHT side, Aksum • Set up the right side of page 14 with the columns from the PERSIA chart (6 columns) for Aksum. • Using the book in Chapter 8, section 3, fill in as many sections as you can on Aksum in 5 minutes. • REVIEW for Quiz #3
