Project: Build an All-Weather Track and Field for SLV • Provide SLV with a track and field worthy of the achievements of its athletes • Little impact on SLVUSD operating budget • Primarily funded from outside sources • Construction Schedule • Start February 2006 and finish April 2006 • Committed to this schedule or lose major grant • Managed by the All Weather Sports Complex Committee for the SLV Unified School District

Benefits • Useable in any weather conditions, all year round - No more cancelled or rescheduled meets and games - No more traveling to practice at neighboring schools • Fewer injuries & respiratory problems • Available for school and community use - Community recreational leagues - All types of sports teams - adult and youth - Used by all K - 12 P.E. departments in Felton • Consistent with the general upgrading of SLV facilities (pool, classrooms, baseball field, etc.) • Makes it possible for SLV to host major events • Stay a step-ahead of other high school facilities

  4. Why Do This Project? • Great Boys Program • Alex Dunn State Cross Country Champion • 7th in Western Region of US • Team Ranked 3rd in California Division 4 - 2003 • 4th at Stanford Invitational • 4th at State Meet • SLV Cross Country League Champions 2002, 2003

Why Do This Project? • Great Girls Program • SLV ranked 10th in the Western Region US • State Cross Country Champions 1999, 2000, 2004 • CCS Cross Country Champions 1997, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004 • Distance Medley National Record 1999 • 15 scholarships in the past 4 years • State Runner Up in CA Div. IV 2001 & 2003 • SLV Girls Track - CCS Runner Up 2000 • Individual State Champions Alejandra Barrientos • CCS Coach of the Year Rob Collins Div. III - 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002 Division IV2003, 2004

  6. SLV Football • Central Coast Champions in 1999, 2000, 2002 • League Championship 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002 • 2001 Ranked Number 1 in the State • Over one hundred forty players annually • CCS Coach of the Year - Doug Morris

  7. Why Do This Project Now? • SLVHS scholar-athletes are serious competitors • SLV athletes have an average GPA of 3.25 • 140 football players • 160 runners forecast for 2005 - 06 • 75 soccer players • All teams are very successful • Grants are awarded and money is available now
