Following the catastrophic earthquake in Haiti on January 12, 2010, which claimed over 280,000 lives, the country has faced immense challenges including political instability, extreme poverty, and ongoing natural disasters. The international community committed $8.75 billion for recovery, but only $1.8 billion has been allocated thus far. Current efforts focus on transitioning over 630,000 people from camps to safe communities through an integrated approach. The Austrian Red Cross and others have deployed significant resources for relief, sanitation, and rebuilding efforts, aiming to strengthen community resilience.
