What is SEED Project doing? • Seed Production • Crop Production • Second Crop Production (Cash Crop) • FAATU’s Services To improve socio-economic situation of target community from 42 villages of Bogalay Township.
Seed Production & Crop Production • 200 ac per year • 188 SP in 2012 (M) • 155 SP in 2013 (M) • Avg Yield = 59 baskets • 1,000 ac per year • 738 CP in 2012 (M + S) • 550 CP in 2013 (M) • Avg Yield = 60 baskets For both production, varieties are Paw-Hsan-Hmway, Sin-Thwe-Latt, Hnan-Kar, Yadanar-Toe and Thee-Htat-Yin which are HYV.
Second Crop (Cash Crop) • Production of Sunflower, Groundnut and Blackgram. • To encourage double cropping in saline regions where summer crop can’t be grown. • 110 ac per year will be piloted
FAATU • Farmers’ Advisory and Agricultural Testing Unit • Composed of technical personnel • Provide (field-based) technical advises, soil and water testing services, seed testing and training provisions.
Technical Focus • Plantation (Hand Transplant) or (Seeder) • Fertilizer (Right time, Right type & Right Amount) • Roughing (2-3 times)
Farming Tools Supported • Hand-Harvester • Thresher • Seeder • Multipurpose Flat-bed Dryer
