  2. 2 Timothy 3:1-7 " 1But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! 6For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, 7always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth."

Alarming Statistics (Single Ministry Resources, 1995) • The pain of growing up in today's world has left many kids hopeless. • Suicide rates among American high school students have quadrupled in the last four decades. • Sadly, 10% of adolescent boys and 18% of adolescent girls have made some attempt to take their own life

Alarming Statistics (Single Ministry Resources, 1995) • "30% of all families and 63% of black families are headed by single-parents“ • "One child in four is in a single-parent home” • "American Demographics predicts that by 2010, the number of single-parents in the U.S. will increase to 9.5 million-another 12%” • "Approximately 60% of all children born in America today are expected to spend some part of their childhood in a single-parent home"

Alarming Statistics(Single Ministry Resources, 1995) • "45% of female-headed families with children at home live in poverty” • "25% of all births are out of wedlock, compared to 11% in 1970” • "There were nearly 370,000 births to unmarried teens ages 15-19 in 1991, up 31% from 1985” • "Three million children under 18 live with one or more grandparent"

Alarming Statistics • "The divorce rate increased by 279% from 1970 to 1992" (Stanton, 1995, p. 1). • "The 1980 census reported that 42 percent of households in America are headed by a woman and that nine out of every ten single-parent homes are headed be a mother rather than a father" (Barnes, 1992, p. 37).

  11. Alarming Statistics • "With divorce, unlike death, one parent voluntarily leaves the family. It is this reason, the absent parent puts the family members in a emotional crisis" (Harker-Carter, 1997, p. 8). • "70 percent of the delinquents in state reform institutions grew up in single-parent or no-parent families, and a similar fraction of all adolescent murders share that background" (Stanton, 1995, p. 20).

  12. Alarming Statistics • "…children from divorce families are twice as likely to have dropped out of school than children from intact families" (Stanton, 1995, p. 13).

  13. Divorce Rates • In the U.S.—50% divorce rate • 41-50% of First Marriages end in divorce • 60-67% of 2nd marriages end in divorce • 73-74% of 3rd marriages end in divorce • In Japan--29% divorce rate • In Singapore--10% divorce rate • In India--1.1% divorce rate

War Has Been Declared on the Biblical Family (Pg. 19-23) • 1 of 2 marriages end in divorce • Median age of divorce: 34-men; 30-women • 1960-1 of 10 homes maintained by a single woman…1996-2 of 5 homes! • 1 million teens will get pregnant; 500,000 of these will abort their child • 60% of all church-involved teens are sexually active • 66% of American HS seniors have used illegal drugs • Every 78 seconds, a teenager in America attempts suicide

And out of them all the Lord delivered me. 12Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. 13But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived.

  18. 2 Timothy 3:8-17 • 2 Timothy 3:8-17, “14But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them, 15and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 16All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work."
