As time flys By Nina
When Nina decided to combine the hearts of two families, it was a struggle between us as to who had the honor of walking up and down the neighborhood. Nina was the uniting force, and it showed.
I can tell you that Nina was the pride and joy of her two older brothers, Marty & Jon. And it showed in Nina’s smile.
We grew up in a small home filled with eight children, mom and dad. I don’t recall a time when that seemed either crowded or filled with angry voices. We were family. Everyone had assigned chores … EVERYONE made it a home. Dad assigned some of the lucky ones to paint the steps, trim and we were honored to have our picture taken in the front yard.
When Nina grew to the age of 5, she was assigned the task of vacuuming the floors and dusting. She now knew who she was and who was in charge of a clean home. We all knew it.
Christmas was special with trees we found from the canyons … a bit sparce and trimmed with aluminum icicles and few ornaments … no lights. Nina got her special doll from Grandfather Sharp. She nurtured her treasure and learned portions that have lasted her lifetime through.
The brothers and sisters left home toward making their own branch of our family tree. The family lost our father when Nina was home alone with him. And through it all, The smile lingered on, And pulled us through it all.
Nina Chose to blossom, thrive, and shine as she was meant to be. Off to school, college, and even found paths leading toward a goal she always cherished. And boy did it show!
Nina met her fella (Charles), she gathered her family and friends, And stood up in front of us all To say “I do!”
Nina whispered her instructions to the fella, And boy did it show!
Nina put on her “determined” face, led her guy from the alter. To begin their journey. You can imagine the surprise of her groom, now realizing she was not only determined to make this work, but that she had a vision of how it was going to unfold.
Nina Took her new captive husband aside, Told him it was okay, and she would make him smile both now and forever. That pleased him more than you can imagine. And boy did it show!
So, Nina and Chuck began their journey Exited, A tiny bit sorry about leaving their family and friends, But, committed to their future.
Off they went into the wide open days that awaited. And their faces showed their joy. As did we all.
Nina and Chuck Brought forth a child And he inherited his mother’s smile. And, as time moved them toward what has proven to be worthy of their love, they added still another child Who expanded their family and their purpose.
So they made cookies, Smiles, Delicious joy. And a Happy family.
And even her bird Who loudly cheered her willingness to share the good portions.
