Digital Government Arkansas Approach: • 2010 Best of Web – 2nd Place • Arkansas.gov portal provides approximately 430 online services supporting state, county, and city governments • Arkansas was the 1st state in the nation to provide secure payment processing services including – inmate trust account deposits, probation and parole supervision and restitution payments, and Pulaski County property tax payments

Enterprise Mobility Arkansas Approach: • Highly portable devices enable the workforce to provide a wide variety of tasks at any location making them more efficient and productive • New web sites are being developed with cross-platform capability specifically for smartphones • Enterprise e-mail servers are providing native support for mobile devices

Green IT Arkansas Approach: • Each agency has addressed the Governor’s Executive Order as is evidenced by successful initiatives. • Multiple agencies shifted to purchasing equipment that meets the ENERGY STAR certification and/or EPEAT rating requirements • The current IT Plan reports that approximately 47% of technology equipment utilized in state agencies meets these standards • The State Data Center reduced its energy use by 16% for Fiscal Year 2010 compared to the benchmark year of Fiscal Year 2008

Health IT Arkansas Approach: • Health Information Office established to coordinate the planning and development of health IT solutions • State Health Alliance for Records Exchange (SHARE) • Arkansas statewide health insurance exchange system • Collaborative effort of public and private stakeholders to plan a system that will improve the health care experience for patients, providers and insurers • ATOM Telemedicine Initiative

21. Social media Arkansas Approach: • Several agencies are using Facebook, Twitter, and other social media technologies • 20% of agencies, boards and commissions are using social media for official business • Social Media Event for Public Information Officers – December 2nd & 3rd

Virtualization Arkansas Approach: • Consolidation of server workloads to enhance availability and efficiency and reduce initial and on-going data center costs • Using virtualization as the engine for driving cloud computing opportunities • Encapsulation of applications and operating systems to a single unit to allow for greater flexibility and operational efficiency • Provide on demand capabilities to be able to deliver computing resources when and where they are needed.  Allow for a “pay for what you use” model. • Utilize desktop virtualization to allow for lowered support costs and higher pc to support tech ratios – help eliminate “sneaker net”

Web 2.0 Arkansas Approach: • Provides the state another avenue to better help government achieve its goals by being transparent, participatory, and collaborative • Benefits – Increased efficiency, improved services, greater accessibility of public services, and more accountability • Mobile services – county property tax payments, the Game and Fish Commission’s Game Check, and the Secretary of State’s Voter View, and Recovery.Arkansas.gov
