  1. Brotherhood Brotherhood is “the belief that all people should act with warmth and equality toward one another, regardless of differences in race, creed, nationality, etc.”(Dictionary.com) By Noel Plocharczyk Comp 106-Yerks, Final Research Paper

  2. Brotherhood is one of the strongest bonds people can have with one another. “When you associate with a fraternity you’re not just meeting new friends or acquiring a place to live and party. It’s much more than that. You’re becoming a part of a brotherhood. Brotherhood is a unique, private bond based on intangible, invisible principles. And because of this bond, you’ll be making friends which last not a semester, or four years, but for a lifetime. Being part of a fraternity is incomparable to anything else; it’s brotherhood, pure and simple. However, to know of its existence is one thing, to experience the brotherhood of fraternity membership is another. It is an oneness, which transcends all cultural, economic, and ideological differences and overlooks petty disagreements and selfishness. Brotherhood is the essence of Greek Life.”(Ecu.edu)

  3. A brother will hold you up , when no one else does. A brother always has your back no matter what the reason. Brotherhood

  4. Brotherhood=A Lifetime Once a member of a fraternity you are a member of the brotherhood. Brotherhood lasts a lifetime not just while you are in college. Once you graduate you are known as an alumni member and still have all the connections any other member possesses.

  6. One purpose of brotherhood is to help a brother succeed in his life and help others. Leaders • Forty-three of the 100 members of the U.S. Senate are members of a fraternity or sorority. • Thirty-Six percent of the House of Representatives are members of a sorority or fraternity. • Of North America’s 50 largest corporations, 43 are headed by Greek men and women, 30% of all Fortune 500's. • 7 out of 10 people listed in Who’s Who are Greek. • 40 of 47 U.S. Supreme Court Justices have been and are Greek. • 63% of all U.S. Cabinet members since 1900 have been and are Greek.

  7. A Brother There To Help A young man visits his girlfriend until the late hours of the night, at her dorm down in Detroit at a private college for dance. He leaves her and heads home only to find himself with a flat tire somewhere in the middle of a very bad area of Detroit. Frightened by the placement of his bad luck, he looks for a spare tire and it isn’t there. At 3:30 a.m. he calls another young man, without hesitation he jumps out of bed, gets dressed, grabs some necessarily tools and his own spare tire and drives his car down to the ghetto of Detroit where his friend is. Quickly they change the tire, hug and say their peace, and return to their homes. You can say that any good hearted person would do that for someone else, or you can say that is amazing and the young man that got out of bed at that hour, to help another person is great person. The true story is that they attend a university together and are brothers of the same fraternity. They share the fraternal bond of brotherhood

  8. Here is a story of how a young member benefits from the brotherhood. An active member of a fraternity works for his uncle running their family owned bar. He gets paid cash so nothing ever gets recorded as far as him making money or having credit. He lacked experience on paper, but works very hard for what he does. He worked so hard that he was able to save up enough money to buy a house, but the bank would not give him a loan because of the lack of income he has on paper. An alumni member of that same fraternity owns a mortgage firm. He hears of the issue the active is having with his house buying and looks into it himself. He is able to pull a few strings and get that active brother his loan for the house. The alumni had never met or even heard of the active brother before, but just because they are brothers he decided to help him out, and take a risk of a nineteen-year-old kid trying to pay for a house of his own on his own shoulders. That was a huge risk he was willing to take, he didn’t know if this nineteen year old kid was responsible enough to be able to buy a house, but he took a risk because he was a fraternity brother, it was a great showing of brotherhood.

  9. Brotherhood From A Stranger Brotherhood extends past just a chapter, it extends nationally too. A brother from a chapter in Michigan decides to take a trip to Chicago. When he is there he goes out to the bar and has a few drinks, nothing crazy, but does manage to get intoxicated. He then makes a very poor decision to drive back to his hotel. He manages to get himself into an accident on the way back. Of course the police are called to make an incident report, and it is determined that he is over the legal limit of intoxication, and is then arrested. A different police officer shows up just to add assistance to his fellow officers. That extra police officer notices that the drunken man has a sticker of his fraternity on the back window of his car. He sees this, and asks the man a question; to the other officers it was probably a very odd question. But the man knew exactly what he was asking and responded in the only way possible, with the secret answer of the fraternity. This confirmed to both the drunken man and the police officer that they were both brothers of the same fraternity. The officer wrote up the incident report as if it was not his fault at all, and he was released. A driving under the influence offence would have messed up his life royally, with possible jail time, and very expensive fines. His life as he knew it was saved by a brother from another chapter. He did mess up, but he was able to get a second chance and learn without having the consequences. He received brotherhood from a stranger.

  10. That’s Me! I chose brotherhood because it is something that means so much to me. My brothers are everything to me , and I would do anything for them. It really do believe that brotherhood is one of the strongest bonds between people. Researching only made my beliefs stronger when hearing or reading stories. Brotherhood

  11. “The universal brotherhood of man is our most precious possession.”(Mark Twain)
