  3. God spoke to Moses through a burning bush God used Moses and Aaron to speak to Pharaoh Pharaoh refused to listen to God God sent 9 plagues Egypt God past over Israel Review

  4. God Delivers Israel • Read Exodus 13:17,18,21 • To which land where the Israelites heading? • To Canaan, the land God gave to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob • How did God show Israel where to go? • A pillar of cloud by day • A pillar of fire by night • Read Exodus 12:41 • The Israelites resided in Egypt for 430 years • Though God’s promises may not be fulfilled quickly, they will be in their season.

  5. God Delivers Israel • Why did God protect Israel? • HE is loving and merciful • One of their descendents was to be the great Deliverer of sinners • God’s promise to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob • God was giving HIS Word to Israel to give to the world.

  6. Pharaoh’s heart is harden Read Exodus 14:5-7 • The sinfulness of Pharaoh’s heart made it harden in response to God’s dealings with him. • Read Exodus 14:10-12 • The Israelites still did not trust God

  7. Israel is afraid Read Exodus 14:13,14 What did the Israelites do when they saw Pharaoh’s armies coming behind them? • Became fearful • Blamed Moses • Said they should have stayed in Egypt Are we any different from the Israelites? Are we willing to be silent and trust God to deliver us?

  8. Israel is afraid What should Israel have done? • Called on God and trusted Him to save them Could the Israelites save themselves? • Only God could save them

  9. God opened the sea Read Exodus 14:15,16 God performs another miracle in delivering Israel God is not bound to His creation He has complete control over it

Israel is led by God through the sea • Read Exodus 14:19-22 • God keeping his promise to lead them safely out of Egypt and into the land He had promised Abraham • God led Israel into the path He had made • God moved the cloud behind the Israelites, between them and the Egyptians • Egyptians saw a dark cloud while the path was lit up for Israel

  11. God’s judgment of Egypt Read Exodus 14:23-25 There wasn’t any way for the Egyptians to escape God’s punishment. No one can fight against God and win. God is Almighty. God is merciful and saves those who believe His Word

  12. Bread from Heaven Exodus 16:1-3 • Israel murmured and grumbled against Moses and Aaron. • They did not trust in God

  13. Bread from Heaven • Exodus 16:11,12 • Who could provide food for the Israelites? • God was the only one could feed the masses of Israelites Did the Israelites deserve the provisions from God? • God is loving, merciful, and gracious

  14. Bread from Heaven Exodus 16:13-15,35 God provides food for Israel • Quail in the evening • Manna in the morning

  15. Water from the rock Exodus 17:1-4 The Israelites undervalued their deliverance so much that they wished they had died in Egypt.

  16. Water from the rock Exodus 17:5,6 Even with all of their grumbling and distrust in God, He was still faithful to provide enough water for all the Israelites and their animals Moses was obedient to God’s instruction.

  17. Conclusion • These are historical events • Yes there are miracles • They are God’s miracles Miracles show us: • God’s faithfulness to keep His promises • His great love for His people • His sovereign power over all creation
