The Blitz. The blitz started in 7 th September 1940. Lots of other places were like B irmingham , South Hampton Sheffield , M anchester ,Liverpool, Hull and Glasgow . Blitz means G erman air raids, from a German word “blitzkrieg” which means lighting war.

  1. The Blitz The blitz started in 7th September 1940. Lots of other places were like Birmingham , South Hampton Sheffield ,Manchester ,Liverpool, Hull and Glasgow . Blitz means German air raids, from a German word “blitzkrieg” which means lighting war.

German air force dropped 5,300 tons of high explosives on the capital in just .In their efforts to 'soften up' the British population and to destroy morale before the planned invasion, German planes extended their targets to include the major coastal ports and centres of production and supply.t 24 nights.
