  2. Making sure the hard work doesn't end up on your plate • Kitchen and dining room audits • Communications plan to consider all stakeholders • Review of all major procurement contracts • Recruitment programme underway • Review of menus

  3. Kitchen and Dining Room Audits Audits are considering: • Heavy Equipment Requirements • Additional Staffing Hours req. • Light Equipment Requirements e.g. Plates, trays, cutlery, mixers. • An estimate of the expected increased take-up • Effect of this on the dining room space and lunchtime timings • How we can be creative with what we have • In the next two weeks we will be in touch to arrange an appointment to meet with you and go through your schools individual needs • We will support you as much as we possible can.

  4. Communications Plan Includes: • Monthly E-Communications to all Headteachers, this started in October 2013 • Bi-Monthly communications to all Chairs of Governing Bodies • Newsletters and Information leaflets for parents • We are working closely with Children's Services, Anne Cowlings team and Charlotte Foleys team so that we can give you a joined up approach • We will continue to keep our kitchen teams informed through our established communication systems • We are also in early discussions with Public Health and Family Information Services

  5. Feeding Young Minds ....... • Major contracts for fresh fruit & vegetables, fresh meat, fresh bread and frozen produce all being renewed • Using this as an opportunity to promote to schools our commitment to providing seasonal local produce • All schools have been instructed to use fresh fruit and vegetables and where possible fresh meat, this can be restricted sometimes due to kitchen space but we are working with schools individually to give the best possible options for menus which meet Food 4 Life standards

  6. People Power • Our audits are taking account of any extra staffing resource that your school might need • Recruitment drive starts now • All new staff will be put through our training programme • There are opportunities for existing staff to attend further training • Recruitment of more Chefs to schools where uptake has significantly increased • Our expectations are higher because we know you expect the best – so do we • If your current service isn't how you expect it to be please tell us, we have a proven track record of turning services around

  7. Menus – Food for Thought • Menus have been redesigned and will be launched after Easter • Gives both our teams and our customers the opportunity to get used to the new menu before September • Four Choice option which includes a hot meat choice, hot vegetarian choice, jacket potato choice and a sandwich/baguette choice. Plus salads and puddings. We know where our menu needs adjusting for your schools community and we will continue to work with you to make this happen.
