  3. Summary A forklift is used to lift heavy objects and carry them into an indicated area. These modern tools can easily connect to the back of a delivery truck and be used at the location of delivery. They are a big contribution to the success and efficiency of the industry of the transportation of furniture and other large manufactured goods. Overall these large hydraulic lifts are beneficial to us due to their incredible ability to lift heavy objects with relative ease.

  4. Components oReservoir or receiver tank: type, pressure/volume of operation, mode of operation, etc. oPump or compressor: located inside the forklift the pumps move the fluid in and out of the cylinders. oValves: the lever panel controls the cylinders and moves the forks and raises and lowers the stabilizers. oCylinder: type:single-acting, location: front, function:to do the mechanical work oFilter: oil filter, located in the rear of the forklift, it is used to filter the hydraulic fluid.

  5. Power Supply Kubota® Turbo 59 HP @2700 rpm

  6. Reservoir 2 Gallon Reservoir.

  7. Controls • Lever-actuated directional spool valves Control Drive: separate lever for each side, forward, neutral, reverse Forks: up or down

  8. Forward and Backward Shift Up/Down Side to Side Shift Tilt Stabilizers

  9. Schematic Cylinders levers (valves) Pumps Reservoir

  10. Operation Kubota® Turbo 59 HP @2700 rpm engine provides power. Fluid is drawn from from reservoir. Control valves direct fluid. Drive pumps • Cylinders Fluid returns back to reservoir after use.

  12. Reflection Overall from this project we learned that, hydraulic systems can be extremely beneficial when hard forces have to be exerted with effective control and precision. We also now understand how these systems work and what makes them so effective. The forklift will always be one of the most important tools in the delivery business.
