WHYRecharter? • Your Charter attests to the agreement between your Charter Org and BSA to offer the Scouting program. • This agreement is renewed every year. • Charter Organization approves your Leadership team annually. • Annual reporting to BSA of: • Who its members are. • Where they live and how to reach them.

  3. WHEN is your charter due? • Saturday, December 13 @ NOON. We will accept Free Badge forms for charters completed and turned in by this date. • Charter Turn-In Dates: • November 6 (Roundtable) • November 19 (7 – 9 pm; Beattie) • November 22 (9 – Noon; TBD) • December 4 (Roundtable) • December 13 (9 – Noon; Flag Plaza)

  4. WHO is Responsible? • Unit Key 3 • Unit Leader, Committee Chm., COR • Delegate paperwork • “Unit Renewal Processor” (Committee Member) • Key 3 Role: • Selection and training of Adult Leaders • Follow-ups with Inactive Members • Relationship with Charter Organization • Unit Finances

WHAT Information does your Renewal Processor need? • Recharter Package / Access Code • Youth and Adult Leader Roster w/ updated personal information • Changes to Adult Leader Positions • Youth Protection Training Status • Adults with Multiple Registrations • Who’s Getting Boy’s Life Magazine • Why Scouts Left

HOW do we do it? • Internet Rechartering: Step-by-Step www.lhc-bsa.org/InternetRechartering • Access Code in your Recharter Pkg. • Add / delete youth and adult members • Update personal information • Subscribe to Boys Life • Separated Scout Survey • Print and Verify Report • Submit On-Line • Bring Paperwork to Charter Turn-In

  7. WHAT Leader Positions are Required? • Executive Officer (No Fee) • Charter Organization Rep (COR) • Unit Leader (CM, SM, Crew Advisor) • Committee Chm and TWO Comm. Members • COR can also register as CC or CM • Pack Trainer counts as a Committee Member • Den Leader (Packs Only) • Tiger or Webelos Den Leaders as applicable

  8. WHAT are the Fees? • Unchanged from 2013 • Charter Fee - $40 / Unit • BSA Registration Fee - $24 / youth and adult member • Boy’s Life Magazine - $12 / subscription • Unit Accident and Sickness Insurance: • $2 / youth and adult member – Packs • $2.50 / youth and adult member – Troops and Crews

WHAT Forms are NEEDED? • Charter Renewal Report • Unit Leader Signature – Verifies Active Youth • Exec Officer Signature – Approves Leadership • Youth Protection Certificates Required for “Leaders not Youth Protection Trained Report” to remain on your Charter • Unit Accident and Sickness Insurance Form • TWO Unit Checks • One for Charter Application, one for Insurance • Payable to “Laurel Highlands Council, BSA” • LEAVE PAYMENT AMOUT BLANK

WHAT Forms are NEEDED? • BSA Applications • Only needed for Youth / Adult additions not uploaded from ScoutNet • Youth Apps signed by Unit Leader and Parent • Adult Apps: • Signed by Applicant in TWO Places • Signed by Committee Chm. and COR or EXEC • SSN, Background Questions and References • Must have Youth Protection Certificate • Not needed for Position Change at Recharter.
