Understanding American Voting Rights: From Slavery to Universal Suffrage

This text highlights the evolution of voting rights in the United States, tracing historical milestones from the establishment of the Electoral College to the abolition of slavery. It emphasizes critical reforms, including women's suffrage, the voting rights of African American men, and the rights of citizens formerly enslaved. The abolishment of discriminatory practices like poll taxes and the extension of voting rights to 18-year-olds are also discussed, illustrating the ongoing journey toward equitable participation in democracy for all Americans.
