  2. How we see them • Fireflies glow in the dark and everyone wants to catch one in a jar. • We probably think that they will sting us. • They look like stars in front of us.

  3. What do they eat? • Fireflies eat other insect larvae • This helps in controlling the population of bugs that reproduce quickly • Ex. Mosquitos, flies etc.

  4. What you didn’t know? • Fireflies have a substance called luciferin which is used in cancer research and some heart disease, cystic fibrosis, and multiple sclerosis.

  6. How are they harmful ? • They are not harmful to humans but they are deadly to predators, such as two bearded dragons , because some dragons would eat these flying beetles contain, lucibufagins, steroidal pyrone, luciferin ,a protein, circulates through the insect's blood stream, making the entire insect ill to a wide variety of insects.

  7. Life span!!! • The average life span of fireflies its about 2 months, but that’s if they are living in the wild.
