  1. Creating Book Trailers in iMovie

  2. Before You Begin… • Choose or create visuals to represent and illustrate the story • Pictures/Photos (taken on a camera or from the internet) • Video • Animation (Claymation, Stop Motion, etc.)

  3. Beginning and Visuals • Start a new project in iMovie and choose a name • Select photos or video from the camera roll or photo library (each photo/clip is added to the timeline below)

  4. Editing Visuals • Adjust the length of each photo by expanding/shrinking its box on the timeline • Double tap the photo to add text or change the title style • Tap the box between photos/clips to edit transitions

  5. Audio • Again, keep in mind the tone of the book and the mood you want to set for the video • Music: • Use pre-existing theme music • Open another music file in iMovie, add to your project (automatically lays audio over visuals) • Voiceover: select microphone icon above timeline

  6. Editing and Reviewing • Change project settings or undo an action (top right corner) • Change theme, music, fading, etc. • View using the play button directly below the preview screen

  7. Finish and Share • Return to start screen • Select “Share online or send to iTunes” • Share to iTunes, social media, or camera roll

  8. Tips • Keep in mind the tone of the book and the mood that you want to set for the video • Keep it brief- usually under three minutes. Seconds feel much longer in videos!
