  1. Many are Weak • 2Peter 2:20  For if, after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the latter end is worse for them than the beginning. 21 For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered to them. 22 But it has happened to them according to the true proverb: "A dog returns to his own vomit," and, "a sow, having washed, to her wallowing in the mire.“

  2. Weakness of the flesh causes many to fall away… • Hebrews 6:4-6 • Hebrews 10:35-39

  3. We need not lose confidence… • John 10:27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.28And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand.29My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father's hand. • God will bless the believer.

  4. Consider how the church grew... • Acts 2:41- Pentecost, 3000 obeyed • Acts 4:4- Grew to 5000 • Acts 6:1- Began to multiply • Colossians 1:23- Gospel preached to whole creation

  5. Principles For a Stronger Church

The Greatest area of Strength is Our Attitude… • Psalm 119:104 Through Your precepts I get understanding; Therefore I hate every false way. • John 8:32  And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." • Romans 1:16  For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.

  7. The Greatest area of Strength is Our Attitude… • Philippians 3:17 17 Brethren, join in following my example, and note those who so walk, as you have us for a pattern. 18 For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: 19 whose end is destruction, whose god is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame--who set their mind on earthly things.

  8. Strength in That Christians are Peculiar and Different… • 2Corinthians 6:17 Therefore "Come out from among themAnd be separate, says the Lord.Do not touch what is unclean,And I will receive you." • Titus 2:14 who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.

The Church Needs to be Different… • 2Corinthians 5:17  Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. • Philippians 1:27 Only let your conduct be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of your affairs, that you stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel, • Ephesians 4:1  I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called,

  10. The Church Needs to be Different… • 1John 2:15  Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world--the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life--is not of the Father but is of the world. • James 4:4 Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.

  11. God Has Always Commanded His People To Be a Separate People… • Genesis 12:1 (Family) • Nation – (Israel) • Church – In Christ (2Corinthians 6:17)

  12. Strength By Evangelism… • Matthew 16:26  For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? • 2Corinthians 4:13 And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, "I believed and therefore I spoke," we also believe and therefore speak, • 2Corinthians 5:11 • 2Corinthians 5:15

  13. Strength In Being assertive… • Acts 9:20  Immediately he preached the Christ in the synagogues, that He is the Son of God. • Acts 18:4 And he reasoned in the synagogue every Sabbath, and persuaded both Jews and Greeks. • Acts 20:20  how I kept back nothing that was helpful, but proclaimed it to you, and taught you publicly and from house to house, • Acts 20:27 For I have not shunned to declare to you the whole counsel of God. • Acts 8:1-4 (READ)

  14. Principles For a Stronger Church • Greatest area of strength is our attitude • Strength in that christians are a peculiar people • Strength by evangelism • Strength in being assertive with the gospel • Strength seen in spiritual love

Let us Be Resolved!! • Let us resolve that in our weaknesses, we will become strong. • Read 2Corinthians 12:7-10 • Victory is found in Jesus Christ • 1Corinthians 15:57  But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. • 2Corinthians 2:14 Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place.
