  5. Pergamos NOTES • 1. Cain • • (1Jo 3:12) Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous. • • (2Th 2:8) And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:

He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. • • Gen 4 Cain (antichrist) persecutes Abel (Israel) for his religion • • (Gen 4:15) … And the LORD set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him. • • Rev. 13-16 there is a mark that is associated with the Antichrist

  7. Pergamos NOTES • 2. Nimrod • • The 13th in line from Adam • • Nimrod Means rebellion or rebel • • He was a king of a kingdom in rebellion from God • • Gen 11 describes him building a world empire and unifying the people both commercially and religiously

  8. (Gen 11:4) And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.

Pharaoh • • King over Egypt (type of the world) • • Persecutes Israel (Ex. 4- 12) • • Moses preached to Pharaoh in the O.T. • • Moses will preach to the Anti Christ in the N. T. • • (Rev 11:3-8) And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth… And if any man will hurt them, fire proceedeth out of their mouth, and devoureth their enemies: and if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed. These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will. And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them. And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.

Balak • • The Moabite king in Numbers 22-25 who caused Israel to sin • (Rev 16:13) And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. • • Dragon is Satan the father • • Beast is Satan the son • • False prophet is Satan the Unholy Spirit

  12. Pergamos NOTES • • (Num 22:41) And it came to pass on the morrow, that Balak took Balaam, and brought him up into the high places of Baal, that thence he might see the utmost part of the people. • • Baal is the false God • • Balak is the false King • • Balaam is the false prophet

  13. Pergamos NOTES • 5. Sisera • • (Jdg 4:2-3) …the captain of whose host was Sisera, which dwelt in Harosheth of the Gentiles. And the children of Israel cried unto the LORD: …he mightily oppressed the children of Israel. • • (Jdg 4:21) Then Jael Heber's wife took a nail of the tent, and took an hammer in her hand, and went softly unto him, and smote the nail into his temples, and fastened it into the ground: for he was fast asleep and weary. So he died. • •

  14. Pergamos NOTES • • (Jdg 5:19-20) The kings came and fought, then fought the kings of Canaan in Taanach by the waters of Megiddo; they took no gain of money. They fought from heaven; the stars in their courses fought against Sisera. • • (Rev 16:16) And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon.

Abimelech • • A rebel against God and a follower of Baal • • Set himself up as sole King • • Dies of a head wound • • (Jdg 9:53) And a certain woman cast a piece of a millstone upon Abimelech's head, and all to brake his skull. • • (Jdg 9:54) Then he called hastily unto the young man his armourbearer, and said unto him, Draw thy sword, and slay me, that men say not of me, A woman slew him. And his young man thrust him through, and he died. • •

  16. (Rev 13:3) And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast. (Rev 14:20) And the winepress was trodden without the city, and blood came out of the winepress, even unto the horse bridles, by the space of a thousand and six hundred furlongs. (Rev 19:15) And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.

  18. (Gen 3:15) And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. (Rev 19:15) And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.

Nabal • • Rebelled against David (Christ)1 Sam 25 • • (1Sa 25:17) Now therefore know and consider what thou wilt do; for evil is determined against our master, and against all his household: for he is such a son of Belial, that a man cannot speak to him. • • (2Co 6:15) And what concord hath Christ with Belial?... • • (1Sa 25:38) And it came to pass about ten days after, that the LORD smote Nabal, that he died. • • David takes his wife

Absalom • • Name means father of peace • • (Rev 6:2) The anti Christ comes as a maker of peace • • Rebels against David (Christ) • • Takes 1/3 of the men with him in rebellion • • (Rev 17:8) The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is. • • (Rev 9:11) And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon.

Solomon • • Only type of Christ and Antichrist in the Bible • • I Kings 10- Picture of Christ in the Millennial Kingdom “all the kings of the earth came to hear his wisdom” • • I Kings 11- Pictures the Antichrist • • (2Ch 9:13) Now the weight of gold that came to Solomon in one year was six hundred and threescore and six talents of gold; • • I Kings 12:9- Raises heavy takes on Israel like Antichrist in Tribulation

  26. Pergamos NOTES • Jeroboam • • First king of 10 northern tribes after kingdom divided following Solomon’s death. • • Leads Israel into rebellion. Sets up images for Israel to worship. (See Rev13)

Ahab • • I Kings 16:30- Israel’s most evil king. • • He is married to Jezebel. • • Jezebel is defined in Rev. 2:20 as a religious system. • • In Judges 17 & 18- this system uses robed priest called fathers who use idols as aids in worship in their “house of God”. • • In Rev. 17:3, that woman (Jezebel) is sitting on the Beast (Antichrist). • • She is the one-world religion the Antichrist will use to pull the world together religiously during the Tribulation.

  28. Pergamos NOTES • 14. Sennacherib • • Wicked king of Assyria who invades Israel from the north. • • His name is found 13 times in the Bible. • • “The Assyrian” is a term used to refer to the antichrist in the Old Testament. • • “The Assyrian” is also found 13 times in the Bible.

Nebuchadnezzar • • King of Babylon who captured Jerusalem and took Judah into captivity • • Jer. 51:34- Called a “Dragon” (see Rev. 13:4) • • (Jer 51:34) Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon hath devoured me, he hath crushed me, he hath made me an empty vessel, he hath swallowed me up like a dragon, he hath filled his belly with my delicates, he hath cast me out. • • Erects an image for people to worship. Dan. 3:1

Haman • • Wicked king who persecutes the Jews in the Book of Esther. • • Because of his hatred for one individual Mordecai (Christ), he seeks to wipe put the whole Jewish nation. • • (Est 7:6) And Esther said, The adversary and enemy is this wicked Haman. Then Haman was afraid before the king and the queen.

Herod • • The kings of the Roman empire at the time of the birth of Christ • • Sought to kill Christ by killing all the children under the age of 2 • • (Rev 12:4-5) And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born.
