To fully understand the prophecy of Russia in Ezekiel 38 and 39, you must understand the prophecies given in Ezekiel 36 and 37. • Though God was clear that his son would rule this world from a throne in Israel and all the world would be blessed through that nation, he also was clear that if they didn’t remain faithful to him that they would suffer and be persecuted. They would also lose their homeland, and be scattered among the nations NOTES

  12. (Eze 36:24) For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land. (Eze 37:21) And say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will take the children of Israel from among the heathen, whither they be gone, and will gather them on every side, and bring them into their own land:

  13. II. The Determining of the Nations

(Eze 38:1-9) And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Son of man, set thy face against Gog, the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him, And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal: And I will turn thee back, and put hooks into thy jaws, and I will bring thee forth, and all thine army, horses and horsemen, all of them clothed with all sorts of armour, even a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords: Persia, Ethiopia, and Libya with them; all of them with shield and helmet: Gomer, and all his bands; the house of Togarmah of the north quarters, and all his bands: and many people with thee. Be thou prepared, and prepare for thyself, thou, and all thy company that are assembled unto thee, and be thou a guard unto them. After many days thou shalt be visited: in the latter years thou shalt come into the land that is brought back from the sword, and is gathered out of many people, against the mountains of Israel, which have been always waste: but it is brought forth out of the nations, and they shall dwell safely all of them. Thou shalt ascend and come like a storm, thou shalt be like a cloud to cover the land, thou, and all thy bands, and many people with thee.

The Geographical Proof • (Eze 38:15) And thou shalt come from thy place out of the north parts, thou, and many people with thee, all of them riding upon horses, a great company, and a mighty army: • (Eze 39:2) And I will turn thee back, and leave but the sixth part of thee, and will cause thee to come up from the north parts, and will bring thee upon the mountains of Israel: NOTES

The Historical Proof • Gen. 10 is know as the “Table of Nations” because you can trace back all the nations and races to 3 sons of Noah. • After the flood Noah’s son’s and grandsons and great grandson’s began to migrate in to various parts of Africa, Asia, and Europe • The places to which they would come to settle would be name many times after the men that lead them there. (Douglasville, Carrollton etc.) NOTES

  18. (Gen 10:1) Now these are the generations of the sons of Noah, Shem, Ham, and Japheth: and unto them were sons born after the flood. (Gen 10:2) The sons of Japheth; Gomer, and Magog, and Madai, and Javan, and Tubal, and Meshech, and Tiras. (Gen 10:3) And the sons of Gomer; Ashkenaz, and Riphath, and Togarmah.

MESHECH • Meshech and his tribe left Asia Minor and went to the western part of the land we know as Russia and settle in an area known as Meshech. • Wilhelm Gasenius, in his unsurpassed Hebrew Lexicon says “Meshech was the founder of the Moschi, a barbarous people, who dwelt in the Moschian mountains” • He goes on to say that the Greek name “Moschi” which was derived from the Hebrew name “Meshech” is where the city of Moscow got its name. TUBAL • Tubal with his tribe left Asia Minor, and went to the Eastern part of the land we call Russia, and settled in what we refer to as the Siberian region. • What is called “Tubal” in our Bible, is what is called “Tobolsk” today on our map. • *Note: In the former Soviet Union, Tobolsk was the eastern capital, and Moscow was the western capital. NOTES

GOG • Literally means “mountain” • The name for the Caucasus Mountains in the oriental tongue means “Fort of Gog” or “Gog’s last stand.” • Russians call the tops of the Caucasus Mountains “Gogh.” • In Ezekiel 32:2, however, “Gog” is the representative name of the nation’s leader that would be leading the invasion of Israel. • (i.e. The leader of the Land of Magog) • If the text would have been against our own country it would have read like this “Son of man, set thy face against Obama, of the United States, the chief prince of Washington and New York, and prophesy against him, NOTES

The Linguistical Proof • (Eze 38:2) Son of man, set thy face against Gog, the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him, • The Hebrew word for “chief” is Rosh, meaning top • The word “Russia” can be traced back to this Hebrew word “Rosh” • Wilhelm Gasenius, in his unsurpassed Hebrew Lexicon says “Rosh was a designation for the tribes then north of the Tarsus Mountains, dwelling in the neighboring Volga. Gomer • The eldest Son of Japheth • (Gen 10:2) The sons of Japheth; Gomer, and Magog, and Madai, and Javan, and Tubal, and Meshech, and Tiras. • As you trace the descendants of Gomer, you find that they settle in an area north of the Black sea (Ukraine, Poland) and then spread south and west to the extremes of Europe. • The Jew today understand Gomer to be Germany, to the extent of calling it Gomer. • Eastern Europe • Germany • Poland • Romania NOTES

  29. Togarmah • Was the youngest son of Gomer • (Gen 10:3) And the sons of Gomer; Ashkenaz, and Riphath, and Togarmah. • He migrated in to the area south of the Black Sea and a little east there of. • Turkey • Georgia • Armenia NOTES

  37. With out exception, every one of the Nations that are listed in Ezekiel 38 (over 2,600 years ago) now presently is armed with Russian military weapons. • AK-47 assault rifle is the main weapon of the soldiers of this allied group. Along with SKS assault rifles and SV-98 sniper rifles. NOTES

  39. Every nation listed is equipped with RPG-7 antitank grenade launchers and Russian S.A.M.S (Surface to air missiles systems) • Russia finished delivering 29 Tor-M1 anti-aircraft missiles to Iran in 2008 NOTES

BEIRUT, Lebanon, Nov. 30, 2010 (UPI) -- Russia has offered to give Lebanon a free arsenal of weapons, including helicopter gunships and tanks, amid U.S. unease about providing arms to a country on Israel's doorstep in which the Iranian-backed Hezbollah is the most powerful force. The Russian move probably has more to do with Moscow's drive to restore the influence it had in the Middle East during the Soviet era than with shoring up the Western-backed Beirut government. The offer of six Mil Mi-24 Hind attack helicopters, 31 T-72 tanks built by Uralvagonsavod, 36 130mm artillery guns and 500,000 rounds of ammunition is unlikely to significantly change the balance of power between state forces and Hezbollah.

Among the weapons being sold to Syria are the P-800 Yakhont supersonic cruise missiles, which Israel fears will be used against their navy in the Mediterranean Sea, the report said. Kornet anti-tank rockets which were supplied to Syria by Russian were found in Hezbollah possession when Israel invaded Lebanon in 2006.

China and Russia defy Sudan arms embargo By David Blair, Diplomatic Correspondent 12:01AM BST 08 May 2007 Russia and China have broken a United Nations arms embargo by supplying Sudan with attack helicopters, bombers and other weapons for use against civilians in Darfur, Amnesty International has said. Chinese strike aircraft and Russian helicopter gunships have been photographed at three airports in Darfur.
