  1. Rett New Zealand 07-08A year in Review

  2. What exactly did we achieve • The Distribution of 100 copies of Kathy Hunters book courtesy of the Deane Endowment Trust • The deliver of Rett NZ’s 2nd Annual Charity Dinner • The securing of two new co ambassadors in Anna Rowberry & Michael Sullivan • The participation in OMFinancial’s 2nd Rett Golf Day • The delivery of a Rett NZ Charitable Trust Charter • The selection of Rett NZ as a joint participant in the Starship Foundation’s digital strategy pilot using video conferencing technology alongside John Forman • Delivery of Grant application form for assistance to future International Rett Conference’s • Representation at IRSA/RSRF’s Chicago Conference in May 08 and the World Rett Congress in Paris October08 • Securing of a Volunteer Grants Co Ordinator • Full funding of our 2nd Annual Parents workshop and attendance by specialists

  3. Fundraising & Finance • Fundraising for the past year revolved entirely around two projects • The 2nd Annual Charity Dinner • The 2nd OMFinancial Golf Day • Our current financial position is quite strong with approximately $40000 available in our current account in addition to two lots of $50,000 sitting in Term Deposits • Recent planning meetings have identified potential support funding for specific fundraisers to generate further support. Fundraising is constantly required and the trust needs more support in this area • There are no fundraisers planned for the remainder of 2008 although we will work towards securing a spot on 2009’s “Dancing with the Stars”

  4. Grant Applications • Dugald McBrayne has volunteered to take on this project and the first of our grants was submitted in Jan/Feb of this year • A Rett NZ planning meeting in February outlined the initial focus for grant applications over the next 6 months and these were identified as • Funding for On Going web development • Specialist Assessment clinics based on the Australian model • Annual Conference costs • Overseas conference attendance • We will continue to update you on the success of these applications but the level or work required to submit them is significant it will take us time to streamline the process. If you have any suggestions on particular areas of focus you think grants should be sort for, please see Dugald during the weekend

  5. Finally • Enjoy the weekend. It is important as caregivers and parents you use this weekend to breath! • Think about what you see and hear. Can you contribute? Are their things we could do better or are not doing? Gillian will provide us all with feedback forms and these are invaluable in assessing where we are going • Think about our long term goals. We are now in to our third year of a business plan written by myself. We must have a direction that is agreed upon by all parents for us to go forward and ensure the future of the trust. Input is essential • If you need help, ask. We are here to help and can not do so if you don’t ask. What ever your concerns, talk to someone and share the load. • Thank you
