Introduction The goal of this call is to give you an overview of refinements to the IEP that will be released Friday, July 1. • Training and support materials will be available in conjunction with the release: • SESIS Help Topics • Computer Based Training Modules • Training Guides and • Brown Bag Sessions New York City Department of Education | Special Education Student Information System Project

IEP Refinements – Need to Know • IEPs that are in final status on July 1 will not be affected by this update. • IEPs that are in draft or review status in SESIS on July 1 will be affected as follows: • The controls and text elements that are being updated will change in the draft IEP. • Wherever you have already made selections or choices in the IEP, your inputs will be automatically “mapped” to align with the new options. • You must review any IEP that you leave in draft or review status on June 30 to make sure these changes are correct. • To the extent possible, you should finalize all IEPs by June 30.   5. Cover Page • The last three questions on the cover page will move to the State and District-wide Assessments section of the IEP and will appear only in edit mode: New York City Department of Education | Special Education Student Information System Project

Present Levels of Performance • The dropdown menus for Instructional/Functional levels for Math and Reading will move to the Summary page: • The section Student’s Relationship with Peers will be removed entirely: New York City Department of Education | Special Education Student Information System Project

  7. Student Needs Related to Special Factors • Some questions that currently appear based on the choices you make that now and only appear in edit mode, will now always be visible. • Promotion criteria will move to the Summary Page. Measurable Annual Goals • The following questions, which currently appear on the Measurable Annual Goals page, will now only appear when reporting progress on a goal: • In the dropdown menu for measuring progress, there will be now be an option for other.   9. Measurable Annual Goals • Promotion Criteria will move to the Summary Page: New York City Department of Education | Special Education Student Information System Project

  10. Recommended Special Education Programs and Services This page will have the most refinements, including new required fields. For IEPs in DRAFT status on July 1, you will need to check it carefully. • In the Frequency column, the dropdown will now have an option for Other with an associated required textbox: • If you recommend service at a separate location, you will now have to specify where in a new required textbox: New York City Department of Education | Special Education Student Information System Project

  11. Recommended Special Education Programs and Services • There will be fewer selections for Special Education Programs/Services. Any selections you made on IEPs left in DRAFT June 30 will be mapped to the new options. Current Future New York City Department of Education | Special Education Student Information System Project

Recommended Special Education Programs and Services • A required dropdown menu will now appear when you select: • SETSS • Integrated Co-Teaching • Special Class • The option for Other will provide a textbox for manual entry: You will have to review these selections in any IEP you left in DRAFT on June 30. Recommended Special Education Programs and Services When you select SETSS, there will now be a required Provided by selection • You will not be able to recommend SETSS if you are recommending placement in a specialized school. • If you select Indirect Service for SETSS, the location will default to Separate Location.   14. Recommended Special Education Programs and Services • SPECIAL CLASS will have new ratio options Current Future 15:1 will be displayed if the student is in Grade 8, 9, 10, 11 or 12 New York City Department of Education | Special Education Student Information System Project

Recommended Special Education Programs and Services • SPECIAL CLASS will also have a new column for Other Considerations, with the following options: - If you select Other from this menu, there is a required textbox .   16. Recommended Special Education Programs and Services The options for RELATED SERVICES will be increased. Any selections you made on IEPs left in DRAFT June 30 will be mapped to the new options.   17. Recommended Special Education Programs and Services • The options for SUPPLEMENTARY SERVICES will be increased. Any selections you made on IEPs left in DRAFT June 30 will be mapped to the new options.   18. Twelve Month Service and/or Program • The lookup link that is currently used to indicate where the student will receive services during the summer will be replaced with a dropdown menu: Current Future New York City Department of Education | Special Education Student Information System Project

  19. Testing Accommodations • There will be a new checkbox for None to indicate students who do not need testing accommodations: Current Future New York City Department of Education | Special Education Student Information System Project

  20. Participation in State and District-wide Assessments The last three questions on the cover page will move to State and District-wide Assessments (in edit mode only): Current Future New York City Department of Education | Special Education Student Information System Project

  21. Special Transportation/Placement Recommendation Selections in Transportation Specific Accommodations currently appear in view mode, but will now only appear in edit mode: The following question will be added to the Special Transportation page: If you check this option, there will be a required textbox New York City Department of Education | Special Education Student Information System Project

  22. Special Transportation/Placement Recommendation • There will be fewer options for transportation accommodations. Special Transportation/Placement Recommendation • Adult Supervision - Paraprofessional can only be selected if you choose one of the following in Recommended Special Education Programs and Services: • Paraprofessional • Crisis Management • Health, or • Orientation and Mobility New York City Department of Education | Special Education Student Information System Project

  24. Special Transportation / Placement Recommendation The options for placement recommendations will be increased. Any selections you made on IEPs left in DRAFT June 30 will be mapped to the new options. Current Future New York City Department of Education | Special Education Student Information System Project

  25. Summary Page • Promotion Criteria will now be entered on the Summary Page and will now allow for selecting different subjects for each school year: • Instructional /Functional Levelswill now be entered on the Summary Page instead of previously entered on Present Levels of Performance.
